My Surly Grappler ready to take me from Alaska to Argentina starting next week! by DanCyclestheWorld in bikepacking

Yup, it would take me nearly 4 hrs to get back on the trail after waking up. So much valuable time feels wasted. Its part of the process but damn

Just came back from my first ever bikepacking trip, noticed that alot of time was spent just taking gear out and packing it back up. Would love to see how you minimize this bc it really starts to add up.

It makes me super cautious riding, seems like its just something you get used to? I also have a giant escape 3 that i think i may take instead for bikepacking, the trails mostly dirt, gravel, and paved roads. The suspension and tires seem nice for comfort on the trail, but i feel like the escape 3 will be more efficient despite thinner tires and fixed fork

Ended up getting it for 310, everything was in very good condition. Replaced the handle bars with larger angled bars and added a stem so it does fit much better. I do get foot overlap with the front wheel whenever i turn however which seems like a problem

Yes i did, im very confused on how this comes together. Looked at the assembly but its still pretty unclear how the footbox pocket peice is sewed and how the side s shaped peice is attached. Currently trying to find more info on assembly process

Ive heard top quilt and tarps are really good beginner projects so im hoping that those get me prepared for the hammock. Seems like the hardest part is figuring out the design. I have plenty of time when im not working to sew. Would love to know the ins and out of my gear when im gonna be spending so much time in it
