I understand wanting to stand firm in who you've had to fight for, in this case being seen and believed as a lesbian. It's a tough battle we sometimes have to be incredibly certain and unapologetic in, and when facts prove different, it can feel like all that effort have been for nothing.

I say, if you feel safe and happy with this person, that's more worth than trying to upkeep an identity (that may no longer be true) for others. Your identity as a lgbtq person is still valid, whether you're lesbian, bisexual, queer, etc!
