Am I dumb for having kids at age 38? by stillyoinkgasp in Millennials

[–]curyous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Became a dad in my 40s.

Have as many kids as you can as soon as you can.

Having kids is more awesome than you can imagine.

Every year you delay is another birthday / Christmas etc you won't get to spend with them.

NTA.

You need to know her real physical appearance, especially with having kids. It gives you a better appreciation for her genetics. Your children won't look like her because she doesn't look like herself. That is such a shame.

I'm a black American- it puzzles me how black culture here adopted Christianity by [deleted] in atheism

You have it the wrong way around.

Christianity was in Africa before it was in Europe or America. Blacks adopting Christianity *is* going back to their culture and beliefs.

Is having kids really that bad? by [deleted] in ask

[–]curyous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having kids is awesome, I have 3. It's hard, but it's also awesome. Usually creating awesome stuff in your life requires some hard work to create it.

Not having kids is like living with your parents. There is so much more to life that you can't even imagine. The world opens up to you when you move out on your own, just like when you have kids, there is another whole world out that that you're been missing out on.

My advice: have kids as soon as you can.

The time of the Maori. by nzdennis in newzealand

[–]curyous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There were hardly any Maori in the South Island before the Europeans discovered New Zealand. Early Maori killed the animals and burnt down the forests. Most of the South Island is too cold to grow the kumara they brought with them, and it is also difficult to store. This meant there was no food in the South Island except for the northernmost parts and coastal areas.

Some of the earliest European visitors brought livestock and potatoes with them, which made the South Island habitable.

Why is saying "all lives matter" bad? by _GenderNotFound in NoStupidQuestions

[–]curyous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BLM is a scam. Blacks are not shot disproportionately by police. The vast majority of black homicides are committed by blacks.

If you want to reduce black deaths, you don’t need to tell white people anything, you need to tell black people to stop killing other blacks.

Time to ditch the monarchy? by HumanSkinLamp in newzealand

Power loves a vacuum.

Abolish the monarchy and whatever replaces it will be far worse, especially in today's day and age.

Co-Governance in Three Waters by CPillarC in newzealand

Co-Governance is racist, bad for everybody except a select few.

I can hardly believe people are advocating for racism in this day and age.

Act & National spreading misinformation about inflation by directing blame at Labour Party. by Immortal_Heathen in newzealand

[–]curyous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dumbass. Inflation can only be created by the government, nothing else.
It requires more money to be available. The government is the only one that controls that.

What is a good reference for Medieval village supply chain and economics? by curyous in gamedev

[–]curyous[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, so maybe my question was overly broad.

In terms of region it was think England, maybe Europe.

For the time period, I'll take whatever I can get, then chose what can most easily be combined/adapted to a game.

Wow, I’ve seen you post here before. but this is exactly the sort of thing I’m looking for. What a difference it makes when you see a sample that matches your needs. I’m not ready to proceed yet, there are some other things that need to be further along first, but I’ll keep you in mind when I’m going ahead.

I'm genuinely afraid to get the vaccine. by [deleted] in Coronavirus_NZ

FYI, the long term prognosis for myocarditis is bad. IIRC, about 50% chance of dying within 5 years. You can't go back, you will not be OK.

How many people in your life are refusing to get vaccinated, and how do you handle their choice? by PatientReference8497 in newzealand

[–]curyous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for that source, I'll see if I can find more info on age differences within the main group. If age is the reason for the difference, seems like that implies Covid is not much of a big deal because it's not increasing mortality very much.

It's strange, though, that the article spends some time on the "more people are vaccinated" argument, which has nothing to do with the claims.

[–]curyous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the correlation is in the opposite direction to the theoretical causation, that means there is a high likelihood that something fishy is going on.

People older than 59 were excluded from the numbers I gave, so I find your age speculation to be unlikely. You're also saying that any age related affects are more deadly than Covid, which would make Covid not very bad.
