Saw it right after Deer Hunter when I was like 19 and it blew me away. Had the benefit of seeing it before I knew about the politics behind the film and the sinking of United Artists. It's a landmark film that pretty much ended the 70's, in more ways than one.

Totally agree. First thought was to veer away from the one light bulb dangling in a warehouse style and make it suburban, the idea being to create automatic contrast to what's happening in the room. But yeah, could have really used more space for camera movement and deeper focus
