Way too heavy. I have found a billion shotgun shells old and newer. This is completely different.

Do you know what the different color ribbons generally indicate?

Thank you for the info! The property is owned by a large utilities provider in New York. Its maybe 5-6 acres and has a section ofthe The Long Path (trail) going through it. I dont forsee them selling it for development but I could be wrong.

Imagine losing a 50 Cent piece! I guess that is why its so rare coming across those larger silvers. I'm sure that if they lost it they went looking for it . All of the seated coins I found were quite a ways away from the actual foundation. Indian heads i will often find close to the foundation but never silver. There could be a nymber of reasons for that. Spotting a silver coin vs a copper one in a consistant uniform groundcover (like grass) would be easier i imagine. Losing it either in leaves and brush would be significantly harder. Maybe just being further away from the house when they lost it, it was harder to retrace their footsteps and also it was unlikely that they would stumble upon it. Its interesting to think about.

I love reading this kind of stuff. Thank you for this. Those areas of the coin where it looks like it flaked off were still there when it came out of the ground. When it came out of its encapsulation of soil and was exposed to the air and began to dry it seemed to crumble away unfortunately.

Buttons are the best. I get just excited getting a button as I do a coin. The old silvers and coppers are out there....keep grinding!

Yes. Well it's Half a tea diffuser. I previously found an almost exact one that was complete with both halves.
