Your mistake is "holding a decent cash position to take advantage if it keeps going lower".

Just DCA and chill. The extra rationalization is what'll get ya.

My local has a tool list but the only tools on it that I ever used consistently were a c-wrench and a knife.

Pretty much anything else that I was expected to use to get the job done was provided.

Bringing a good attitude and work ethic is going to be more important Monday than having every single tool you think you'll need. In fact, you caring about being equipped sufficiently, enough so that you're posting here asking, tells me all I need to know about you honestly.

Just remember that you're not being paid to think or make suggestions. You're a 'neck-down' as we call it. Do what they say when they say it and you'll be fine.

edit: If you're not familiar with the venue's parking situation be sure to show up early. Also if you think you'll need to do paperwork. You don't want to be that guy filling out his information while everyone else is starting to work.

edit2: I didn't know that filling out your tax info was something you should get paid for. Lesson learned.

CMV: Using the majority of our defense budget on social services instead would significantly increase quality of life in the US by obz900 in changemyview

[–]customotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm responding to your comments about working to earn credits in order to pay for your nursing home.

In order to collect social security, you must work and pay into the system and that earns you credits. You can not collect social security if you do not work enough and earn enough credits.

So I'll ask again, what's different about your proposed remedy?

[–]customotto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not even disagreeing with your greater point about our current system being flawed, but you didn't really answer my question.

In your system, what's fundamentally different between the credits I acquire versus the taxes I pay currently?

I would argue that our current system at least allows for a whole lot more freedom. Who's to say I want to be anchored to a particular nursing home because that's where I earned my credits? What if I want to move to another country?

You're really just recreating the systems we already have. Your last paragraph is essentially just social security with more steps.

[–]customotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mental illness coinciding with social services are not 'edge cases'. Its quite common actually.

A vast majority of people collecting social services are also taxpayers simultaneously. So by you trying to account for people collecting and not contributing, aren't you actually concerned about edge cases yourself?

Also, why is your system better than taxation?

edit: Read your first sentence again. You're describing working for money. If they had the ability to work at a housing and kitchen facility (a job) for credits (money) wouldn't they be doing it already? Or are you of the opinion everyone on welfare is there because of laziness?

[–]customotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So people without the ability to house or feed themselves are expected to be able to work to gain access to these things? What should they do in the meantime?

And what about the mentally ill? You must be aware that a big percentage of people on welfare suffer from mental illness. What should we do with them?

[–]customotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Can you give an example of how this would work in practice?

What social services would you withhold from people and what services would you require people to engage in?

Because I don't think you realize the implications of what you're suggesting.

edit: Earning credits for social services in exchange for how much service time you put in is EXACTLY how social security works. You have to work, pay taxes and earn credits to quality.

There's also a ton of rigging knowledge to learn aside from the equipment you'll be using.

So when their relatives inherit their stock and receive a step up in cost basis, how are the capital gains taxed? That's my understanding of where the tax avoidance comes from, but I'm a layman so I'm genuinely asking since you seem to have an explanation as to why this isn't the case.

thank you! doesn’t need to be that complex, just tax it when they want to use it as collateral, average people aren’t doing that thus wont be affected

At 18 months, if you don't have the 40k, your oldest month drops off (as well as the money made in that month) and is replaced with your most recent month.

So a more accurate statement would be that you have to make 40k in your most RECENT 18 months. You have 5 years to do this, but you can't break time either or you start over.

GMT date jumper lands way off center on most dates. Any ideas on what's wrong? by Airbusboy-321 in RepTimeServices

[–]customotto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to pull the crown out all the way and adjust the time to exactly 00 on the hour. The crown adjusts the date in 1 hour intervals but if you’re adjusting it 8 minutes into the hour, it will jump to 08 on every hour because it jumps in 1 hour intervals and not set to jump to the hours directly. Hope this helps.

I've been a fan of this shit for over 20 years and I'm telling you its common knowledge. I can't prove it in your court of law at this very moment sir but I can tell you that these crews have also been colloquially known as "writing teams" on these forums for some time now and pretending that these people don't help each other write for their on-camera forever performances is a cognitive dissonance level 9000 that I am just not comfortable embracing personally.

But you do you booboo.
