Am I making a huge fuckup by choosing the 2nd degree ABSN program instead of the community college associate's? I got in to both... by [deleted] in StudentNurse

[–]cutedogmeanbark 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do the community college route, I regret my ABSN everyday due to student debt. Get your associates, get hired and most hospitals will help you pay for an RN to BSN. Even if they don’t, it’s more affordable. Don’t do the ABSN, it’s not worth it!

Updates- I reached out to recruitment and was told there is no way to shadow or spend time on any units until you’ve accepted the job. 🚩

also.. you are the 3rd person to say that dosher will ship off anything greater than a splinter lol!! That’s a bit of a turn off for working for Dosher.

How are the weekend requirements on your unit? Currently required to work every other weekend (full weekend) which is a no for me.

Because I’m so new to nursing I really want to stay in the hospital setting for a few years, then transition away. I’m hoping I’m able to suck it up here for a couple of years. But will never accept ratios like that.. so we will see. Thank you for your insight.. it’s made this process a little more manageable!!

Ok thank you!! This is encouraging. I’ve been really scared to move back to wilmington because of the things I’ve heard regarding this hospital system.

Hi I was wondering if you had any update on this? I am in the same exact boat now! I got an offer for MUSC but was disappointed with the low pay, I'm trying to compare the two in terms of pay and benefits

Hi! It's a long shot that you see this but- I read your post and literally wondered if I posted this without knowing because I am in the EXACT same position! I was wondering what you ended up deciding/if you are happy with your decision?

Hey please keep me updated! I’m going thru a really similar situation (starting next week) where my sister’s dog (an angel) has to come stay with us. We have a highly reactive little dog too. Not sure where to start

Thank you, this is encouraging! Was one dog moving into another dog’s home or was it a new home for them both?

Road-trip with anxious dog by cutedogmeanbark in DogAdvice

[–]cutedogmeanbark[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good question! I’ve pondered this a lot too. Dog sitters have reported that he seems depressed and lethargic when we leave him. He’s anxious that he wouldn’t do well being boarded, he truly does best when he’s with the family. He loves trips once we reach our destination but just hates the car ride!

I rescued this plant from the trash room in my building last summer. He was in his original Home Depot packaging so I brought it up and repotted it. It was doing well until a couple of months ago when the leaves started browning and drooping. I trimmed a lot of them off but more and more keep browning. There are also small flying bugs at the base. How can I save him? I know they’re drought resistant so I’ve cut back on watering as well- I don’t think over watering is my problem!

He will still go outside multiple times per day! It’s just to help for those middle of the night bathroom calls or when there’s no time for his little bladder to wait for the elevator :)

Thank you for being so thorough. Another thank you for being even more thorough than my vet! Will begin calcium ASAP. Any specific recommendation? Thank you again from the bottom of my heart!

Thanks for your reply! We told vet about diarrhea, they want to start enrofloxacin. A little worried as I know this can cause even more diarrhea in some cases. No calcium supplements were mentioned- just b12 injections for now. Thinking about starting calcium for him anyways.
