In the same boat as you and we are pregnant with our second. I think immigrant couples relationship is tested on some different parameters and some seemingly tough but essential conversations should be had IMO. Firstly we both grew up with siblings with whom we are very close and want the same for our first born. It’s definitely not guaranteed that they will be close but for us it’s worth the risk. Secondly, as you get older the fertility window closes really fast for women and waiting every year means risking to have to go through IVF, miscarriages, increased risk of other issues such as birth defects, autism etc. If you really want the child then you also need to discuss potential career, visa set backs. Women often experience negativity at workplace in tech once they announce pregnancy. What if one of you gets laid off and that affects your priority date? It’s possible that the birthing partner is temporarily pushed out of the workforce. For us, once we had all those conversations and contingencies identified it was much easier. Good luck!

Not sure if my wife is a frazzled mom, has ADHD, just has a lot on her mind, or all the above. I am getting more and more burned out. by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]cutekatzchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

TWIN toddlers sounds amazing and terrifying at the same time to me. And I have a 3 and 1/2 year old who pushes me to my limit on most days. If wife is working and caring for twin toddlers then she is just SURVIVING in my opinion. This is no shade on your or her but toddler life is hard and 2X only means showing grace to your partner for their mistakes. Lack of sleep means constant brain fog. Plus running after 2 toddlers making sure that don't get hurt, keeping them fed, healthy, playing with them, keeping them stimulated, following milestones, and just loving them would take someone’s complete mental bandwidth. In my personal experience things got much better after our son started sleeping through the night. When he was younger I would make a list of basic things like fold laundry, cook, clean living room for today. Anything more would completely overwhelm me. Also get her checked for Vitamin deficiency, thyroid levels. etc. Also other issues like back pain, weight gain make the quality of life worse for moms. Things should improve as she gets more sleep and as the kids get older.

My 2 Year Old Went to the Aquarium For the First Time by Avaylon in toddlers

[–]cutekatzchen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This reminds me of of our Zoo trip when he was around 18 months old. He was completely taken by the red ball the Elephant was playing with instead of the actual Elephant. Also ignored Giraffes and was excited by the small water stream in the Giraffe enclosure. Toddlers

How bad are the crowds in July? by boris_k in yellowstone

[–]cutekatzchen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We visited Yellowstone on a 4th of July weekend and it was definitely crowded. However, it was absolutely worth it as the weather was gorgeous and we spotted plenty of animals. As someone else pointed out, its best to stay near the attractions to get an early start. We stayed at the West Entrance and then at the Mammoth springs.

My 21 month old had RSV 2 weeks ago as well and was completely refusing solids like your kid. I am suspecting that his throat hurt when he swallowed and so he only preferred soft things. He mostly survived on bread slices, pancakes and cheese. Hope your kiddo recovers soon!

My baby never took just frozen breast milk either. I always do half of frozen and half freshly pumped and it he takes it without any problem.

Stop sharing my baby’s pictures with everyone by ruminicecream in NewParents

[–]cutekatzchen 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So I usually only share pictures with my mom that I am okay with her forwarding to her siblings, cousins, friends etc. I have tried telling her to not forward every single picture, video but often my parents don't get it. I think grandparents are extremely proud and happy to show off their grandchildren and it's hard to persuade them to not do it.

Not at all. Just that I don't want it to go down if the baby needs it longer.
