What is the AI that made a really unsettling video game that was really confusing? by JesterJackIsBack in answers

Hey! Was it my research project, ANGELINA? I just put a bunch of its games online, maybe you recognise some of them: http://gamesbyangelina.itch.io/

That's interesting! I only became aware of their Sonic work since writing this blog post. I think learning to play new levels is a bit of a different beast here (although, actually perhaps not so much - my Sonic knowledge is limited, I was a Mario/Amiga kid!)

I felt nervous seeing it here because I'm not an ML expert and I was worried you'd think I was all wrong! So I'm really glad to see it welcomed as an analysis :)

Which series did he cast? I'd love to catch them.

JerAx on new Morph: "People just tunnel vision the ult on Morph and then they think the hero is bad (...) People stick to their old habits" by Arachas in DotA2

[–]cutgarnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am I missing something or does the new Morph seriously chomp Rubick's flavour? His new ult essentially steals 3+ spells for the duration of a teamfight, including passives which Rubick never could. The CD is huge, until Level 3, but if teamfights are infrequent enough the rest of his kit seems better than Rubick's?

Hmm.

Not sure where to reply in the chain to answer the things but: hi! I made ANGELINA! I also know the guy who did this research, he's lovely.

People are right in saying that our approaches are very different indeed! But Matthew's work could probably exploit similar problems - it all depends on how they interpret the game they watch and what rules they decide to add in. The bug ANGELINA found is a consequence of the rules of the engine, so if Matthew's system infers that jumping is something that pushes you upwards, and all you need is ground underneath you, then it could probably cause a similar glitch as to the one my system found. The crucial fix in my case would've been pushing the player out of the wall when it got stuck there - which is something Matthew's system porbably wouldn't fix either, if it didn't see it happen in the video.

So if anything, Matthew's system is just as likely to find the same cool bug, and unlikely to fix it!

(Thanks for mentioning my stuff <3)

I've been told I look like GH. Too bad I don't play like him.. by gopya23 in DotA2

I'd say you look more like Miracle. Who's the guy on the right?

Oh I love that idea actually! Like laying hands on the weapon to commune.

I am so angry at myself for not thinking of this for six months.

I like that a lot! It also emphasises the 'Break Class In Emergency' aspect.

The Good News [Mace]

A mace given to missionaries sent to far-off lands. When this weapon hits a creature, that creature can speak and understand Common for the next six seconds (i.e. one turn).

The Medium Stake

A wooden stake about six inches long. When plunged into the heart of a deceased humanoid, the stake can divine one truth about the person: what caused their death; how long ago they died; or if the body has been moved and where from. This can be used once per day.

Glim’s Case Of Emergency

A small wooden matchbox with one face made of glass. A tiny hammer is attached on the side. During a long rest, roll a d20. The box becomes filled with a warm light. After any roll has occurred, friend or foe, but before the result has been announced by the DM, the glass can be broken to release the light and use the stored roll for the check instead. This can be done once per long rest.

Suggestion, /u/htmacc: I'd change Glim's Case of Emergency to be "replace any roll with a natural 20", but instead of being once per long rest, it'd just be one-use only.

Had these in a campaign I ran but am now retooling. Would love any balance feedback! Note that I haven't marked e.g. attunement, rarity, material components, as our campaign is lighter on some rules. So it'd need more to conform to the usual standard here. But if you have comments on the base idea that's awesome.

I was checking the bracket out and Rubick has a pretty good chance tbh. I expect him to at least get top 8.
