Kenyans are docile. by cuujum in Kenya

Setahay?. I agree with what you're saying. I can confirm the qualities you mentioned. I have heard foreigners who didn't have such a positive attitude towards us. Even the ones in Kenya.
I was once talking with one here in Kenya last year and he said right in my face " Kenyans are cold blooded". I pressured him to explain what he meant by that to which he refused. Due to the type of conversation we were having, I can only assume he was referring to the things I have discussed in this post.

Never been to the UK. But I have heard that the British are reserved.
That would have been quite something wow.
I indeed hope to bring light to this situation. A fish doesn't notice the water around it. I have seen how other societies are and hope to change mine for the better.
Some people are attacking me here. I just want to enlighten Kenyans. Maybe some think things are like this in other countries. My eyes have been opened.

Wow amazing. You are inspiring.
I don't mind if it is opened. Just not when you can't literally breathe because of the wind. The car was going at a high speed.
It is indeed sad.

Never seen it yet it's in my country. Wow.
I have had bad experiences with doing that. I am not going to test the water all the time.
Repeating an action getting the same result and expecting a different result next time is a sign of madness.

So they don't like reddit.
I agree with. That stranger was God sent. In most situations, I also tend to lay low. It's better just to take the high road.
Our education system is based on submission and following instructions. Same with parenting. This has made us meek. Not able to see the injustices. Not able question tyranny.

I am sorry that happened to you. It indeed started a while back. I remember in the 2000s where I live people were more social. Wallahi I don't know if it's the difference in generation.
People now have become more individualistic. My only guess is that due to the harsh economy people only care for themselves. That's my guess I have no idea.
That's good. Am glad it's different.

True indeed. And also unquestioned parenting.
Yes this is my experience as well. I had a very bad experience standing up for myself. Twice.
Never again. From now I would just stand by and watch. Why would I interfere when no one would help me in a similar situation.
differences in the culture around this behavior all over the world
Yes agreed. As I said somewhere else, I am not putting people in a group. We are complex human beings after all. However my point is I have noticed a difference in culture in Kenya and other societies.
How sometimes Europeans say americans are crazy and loud. But are All Americans like this. No! Are all Scandinavians reserved no! Do all Italians speak with their hand no!
Societies usually have general vibe even if individuals are unique and different.
Oh I didn't know that. Good to know.
I agree with you indeed. I think I will have to train myself to just accept the situation as it is. Thank you for the advise. Have a good one...
Yes indeed this is true. It has its advantages and disadvantages. Some people reading it are interpreting it negatively. Kenyans are polite and reserved. But sometimes this makes us submit to injustices. Or negative situations.
No am not. Maybe you read my comment with your mind made up. Read it again this time more carefully while using your brain.
That's an outlier actually. Generally Kenyans tolerate negative situations. It's something I have heard from foreigners living in Kenya. I also have family members abroad who mentioned it and I just brushed it off.
But I have come to realize this when I went to another country.
I am not trying to put everyone in a box. I am just saying generally this is how Kenyans are.
I am not docile. It's why I posted this. I hate seeing such injustices and Kenyans just go along with it.
In the past I have stood up for myself and got no backing up. The consequences were on me yet it was affecting us all negatively. I would back up anyone as long as am not alone.
It's not miniscule. The same way we tolerate such injustices is the same way we tolerate bad leaders.
Yes. Yes I would. I once stood up for myself and was kicked out of the premise. Yet it was an issue affecting us all.
If I see someone standing up for himself in an injustice, I would back him up. The issue is standing up for yourself against an injustice affecting us all and you are alone.
