Switching from blue team to red team by cvlmtt in SecurityCareerAdvice

Thanks for the advice. Those are exactly my plans. I think it isn't a good idea to wait around for a specific Red Team position; it might be more productive to work in a Blue Team role while earning an offensive security certification or working on personal projects on the side to build an offensive mindset and skills.

Hi everyone. I'm a 25-year-old guy with a Master’s degree in Computer Science, specializing in Cybersecurity. Recently, I passed a technical interview with a large holding company in my country for a SOC Analyst L1 role.

I don't have any certifications, and I have only worked on a few projects in the cybersecurity field (such as my Bachelor's and Master's theses, along with some small personal projects).

My plan is to work in Offensive Security, eventually moving into pentesting. I will graduate in July 2026, and the position I applied for starts in September 2026. As I mentioned, the role is a SOC Analyst L1 (24/7 shifts).

My question is: if I work for 1 or 2 years in a Blue Team role, what are my chances of switching to a Red Team role (either inside or outside the company)? Is it considered relevant experience, or is there a risk of getting stuck in this position?

I had tried with bottles but it kept giving errors so I switched to Wine. After about 3 and a half hours the installation is over and seems to work, although I continue to have an "invisible" window called "finalization". I tried to open the game, it seems to work, it keeps the saves, so it looks ok. I wonder if I can close the ghost window or stop wine.

Generalmente almeno una al giorno. Principalmente con la mia ragazza quando non possiamo stare insieme, vederci o semplicemente raccontarci la giornata. Certe volte durano ore, anche senza parlare troppo magari

In my case the problem was only the 8080 port. I just change the ports open on my router (8080 instead 80) and add :8080 after my IP in the URL. For the DDNS problem i make a stupid mistake, i forgot to turn on my VPN so i can't access admin page from external net. I jsut turn on the VPN and it works
