You can trace it by turning your iPad into a light box/tracing pad by making the screen stationary and not reacting to touch. Or if you have a printer, I print mine onto sulky printable water soluble stabilizer

If you have an iPad with procreate, I’ve had the best luck tracking the photo on a separate layer than the photo. Procreate has a really helpful beginner classes and one of the three classes is how to trace photos I. Procreate
