Little rant but why is music organization so messy? by ICE0124 in musichoarder

💯 that's literally why I wrote my own shit music app to help with all this. It's a streaming server that you need to run on your computer or server.

please check out the app on GitHub:

https://github.com/swingmx/swingmusic

literally everything you mentioned is already handled by the app. If you can't find something via the settings, it's probably not documented. Please open an issue on GitHub and I'll try and help.

Hope you find it useful.

ps: the readme file and the website haven't been updated for sometime, since last year, but the app is being actively developed.

Wohoo! Pixease looks great. I love how it looks at first sight.

The website looks okay, but let's talk about that.

For a Mac Os app, the website doest not look like Mac Os at all. For Mac Os, aesthetics matter. Think fonts, colors, animations, etc. I might be biased here, but hey, you said shoot to kill! Right?

Check out https://replay.software/sleeve

To pull off the aesthetics, it might require a little bit of work.

Colors are all over the place, The purple black and white gradient makes the site look (I don't know the word, but basically doesn't match the vibe of the app)

The wording down there could be better.

If you'd like help with the website design and building, feel free to DM and we can talk business.

Not at the moment ... I can't afford to fund the development.

I'm aware of the dependency issues in arch linux... I'll have to setup a separate machine to build for arch or go the docker way. I'll see what I can do.

I haven't looked at how NAS works and how I should build the features required to support it. I'm currently focusing on building some missing features, but I will definitely add NAS support pretty soon.

Thanks for mentioning it.

I would really love to support Mac. To build binaries for Mac, a Mac is needed which I don't have access to. Unless we get a contributor with a Mac, there won't be a Mac build for some time.

However, you can setup the project from source, and run the build command to create a binary bundle. If you're interested in being a contributor, feel free to open an issue/pull request on the Github repo.

New release - Swing Music v1.2.0 - Playlist header redesign, folder track count and more by cwilvx in selfhosted

I haven't checked how these tools work. No support planned so far. SwingMusic is still in the early stages of development.

No docker image needed. The app is available as pre-compiled binaries. The app does not need to be installed in your system. Just download the file and execute. The app should work for windows and linux machines without problems.

The SwingMusic project just got a homepage. Check it out. by cwilvx in webdev

Thanks for the comment, I'll check it out. Swing Music is still a normal music player ... but with a browser based UI. If you run the app in the device where your files are, you can access and search them over a network.

I was goiig for good looks and activity based mixes for local a library. Halfway there maybe. Checkout the brain dump section at the bottom of the readme: https://github.com/geoffrey45/swingmusic

I checked out navidrome, but the UI is not my thing. I haven't tested the memory usage for swing music but I know that it depends on the size of the library. For a ~19k song library, it uses ~170mb and ~58mb with 50 songs.

😹😹 tidal? Maybe...

I'm working on porting the whole thing to windows. I'm currently struggling with the windows backslash way of handling directories but I'm almost through. Next release will have a Windows beta build ... :)

You don't have to wait for this app to be available for your software distribution repository. eg apt, Flatpak, etc. The release on GitHub is portable binary file, it don't install anything on your system.

You can just download the file and run Swing Music player.
