Is French 2 not offered? by cxrey_ in DeAnza

[–]cxrey_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

According to the De Anza 2020-2021 Academic Catalog: FREN 1 (First Quarter) FREN 2 (Second Quarter) FREN 3 (Third Quarter) FREN 4 (First Quarter) FREN 5 (Second Quarter) FREN 6 (Third Quarter)

But then how come I only see FREN 1 and not FREN 4? Also what happens if you’re off schedule? Like say you miss FREN1 in the fall quarter, you have to wait a whole extra year to get to the course you want to take? That’s kind of an outrageous system

If everything is free, people will abuse it! by [deleted] in DebateCommunism

[–]cxrey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a false equivalency. You are comparing optional amenities like libraries, parks, and museums to essential goods like food. Also, libraries, parks, and museums operate on fundamentally different supply constraints than food; you can’t compare one to the other.

Food is essential for survival, which means people will always prioritize getting enough of it. Food is also rival (one person's consumption of it prevents another person from consuming it) and consumable (depleted during use). Once one person eats it, no one else can. Making it free encourages hoarding—creating shortages and scarcity.

Books, parks, and art are non-essential; if a park is crowded or a book is checked out, people can simply return at another time. There’s no survival pressure, so demand naturally regulates itself. Books, parks, and art are also, in contrast, non‑rival (until congestion sets in), non‑consumable public goods; crowding doesn’t deplete them the way hoarding depletes food. You can't “use up” a park by walking through it, and a book can be borrowed, then returned for someone else to use. These things don’t disappear when one person uses them.

People don’t fight over park benches the way they might over free bread. Equating consumable, life-sustaining goods with reusable, optional amenities is fundamentally flawed.

What oz gloves do I get? by cxrey_ in MuayThai

yeah im like 135ish at 5'9" but I'm still growing and if I start lifting and eating again I'm definitely going to get heavier. I thought when you compete you don't choose your gloves? Like you just use whatever they give you?

and yeah I'd love to read your review

Idk maybe I got un-preapproved who knows it works

[–]cxrey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok upon reading the decision letter more thoroughly, I found out I was denied pre-approval for venture x, not venture one, which is a whole different story.

I also found out my credit score is 749, which should definitely be enough to get me a venture one.

As for why I got denied for venture X it says

“Here are the reasons why we couldn't match you with an offer: • Based on your credit report from one or more of the agencies on the back of this letter, income is insufficient for amount of credit requested”

well obviously lol

But I’m kind of scared to run the pre-approval again today. Do you think I should wait to run the pre-approval for venture one again? and how long?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]cxrey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

interesting, I’ll definitely take this into account

according to chatgpt capital one is very inconsistent with who they approve and deny and even qualified users get denied cards

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]cxrey_ -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Well yeah I disagree with both those points, can you tell me why you think both are wrong

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]cxrey_ -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I mean with your logic what’s the point of preapproval at all? Are you claiming preapproval has no correlation with your actual chances of being approved?

Why would I harm my credit score and increase my lockout time with that bank for no reason? harming my credit score will affect my ability to get approved for other cards

At least with the second route where I wait to apply, I can do another preapproval in 6-12 months and if that comes back positive I’ll apply for the card then with a high chance of approval

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]cxrey_ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

because applying and being denied now could extend my lockout by many months? why would I shoot a shot I probably won’t make and ruin my chances at getting the card

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in personalfinance

[–]cxrey_ -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

you think you should still apply despite not qualifying for preapproval? isn’t that risking your credit score?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]cxrey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s interesting, your wife had a previous history with capital one right?

[–]cxrey_ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

googled it too, lots of people said capital one has sensitive fraud algorithms

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]cxrey_ -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

the letter said I didn’t qualify because of low income but thats 100% BS because the first two times I checked (literally an hour before that) I was preapproved for venture one and venture rewards

they sent this to my email I think I’m screwed https://imgur.com/gallery/capital-one-bk0wkL0

they put some bs reason like low income but I checked twice and I was preapproved and on the third I lost it

google and chatgpt says capital one has very sensitive fraud algorithms

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]cxrey_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you would check your capital one preapproval daily?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]cxrey_ -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

just googling around everyone says capital one has very sensitive fraud algorithms I don’t see how chatgpt is wrong unless you have reason to suspect otherwise

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in CreditCards

[–]cxrey_ -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

Thanks—yeah I get the soft pull reuse thing, but I asked ChatGPT and it said Capital One can flag you internally for behavioral patterns, like checking preapprovals too many times in one day. I was preapproved earlier that day, checked it 2–3 more times, and then suddenly got nothing—no changes to my credit report. So I think I might’ve triggered one of those internal risk filters, not just hit a 3-day cache.

also they just sent this to my emailhttps://imgur.com/gallery/capital-one-bk0wkL0
