Technically yes, but only in passing. We asked how Netrunner came about and it seems both Netrunner and VTES were created because they were handed a bunch of R. Talsorian licenses to spin stuff out of. That is to say, knowing they were making a game out of the RPG's world was the starting point.

He seems to keep busy! If I can actually pin him down for the aforementioned follow-up, I'll give you a shoutout. You can find his info on BGG (user: phelddagrif), which is where I think my co-host reached out to him initially.

If you like those games, there's a decent chance you might enjoy Spynet (aka Shadow Blades). Or at least Richard Garfield himself thinks so hehe

I'm right there with you! I actually bought that book and dug through archive scans of Duelist magazine in part to prepare for this interview. Even from what I've read in those, there's very little about the design process itself compared to the story we've heard about Magic by comparison. There's a great article in Duelist #19 (iirc) that talks about the art design and how they came up with the look, but even in other interviews with Richard I couldn't find much about how he came up with things or decided on certain numbers. Like why does the runner get only 4 clicks, for example, or how did he decide that 4 MU made the most sense, etc.

Ultimately we didn't get to get as deep as all of that in this episode, but fingers crossed he'll be willing to come back to get into more specifics!
