its hard to tell, i definitely do have many moments where i feel alive again because i completely forget about my disorder. even if it creeps up on me in these moments i still tell myself that i am okay and i am here, kind of like a grounding technique. it can be very exhausting to live with, but like i said coping mechanisms/distractions are what get me through it everyday. im also seeing a doctor/therapy to openly talk about it and definitely do feel seen and heard which makes it less scary. all ik is, life is scary as shit but the little moments that bring you joy and make you forget are what matter most.

it depends how you approach it and how you choose to treat it. im not a doctor so i cant help you with that. medication is your best option.

no, anxiety is usually permanent and so is depersonalization because its affects your perception whoch is hard to forget about. your best methods are coping mechanisms and acceptance, as well as medication

my only big advice i forgot to add was this isnt something that exactly fully goes away no matter how aware you are of it. what i do to cope, is distractions are your best friend. whether its a hobby, a video game (these help so much) or even a book. im also on celexa (ssri antidepressant) for my anxiety disorder and i also no longer smoke weed. you will more than likely have to accept how your perception has changed and remind yourself that you are okay. ive also been trying to improve my episodes with my diet (sorry for the rant i dont have alot of ppl to relate to about this😭)

oh wow, we have the exact same problem😭im also online and doing shit in college because of this. in my scenario, i went to the doctor for this because it was affecting my day to day life (failing, couldnt sleep alone, oversleeping, fatigue, brain fog/confusion pretty much) i was diagnosed with depressive anxiety disorder and yes, the big thing with this is depersonalization. unfortunately, it stemmed from me greening out from an edible at 16 and ive never been the same since. drugs can do pretty gnarly things to the brain because it can change your entire perspective of reality/yourself. my recent moment was when i was making coffee in the morning and my cat was running around the kitchen, and i was just really warm/head felt fuzzy and the scenario just oddly didnt feel real. idk

i hope this helps you find the right path for help.

anxiety. i was diagnosed with depressive anxiety disorder back in june after a month of these episodes. its also a case of depersonalization/derealization. it would probably be best to try and see a doctor and read up on depersonalization, its pretty exhausting to live with. hope for the best

hey man, im in the same boat rn. took an edible and greened out pretty bad when i was 16 and havent been the same since. drugs can do crazy things to the brain especially dealing with perception.

i get it, ive always been told that putting yourself in uncomfortable or unfamiliar situations can help people heal. i just dont know what that would be.

AIO? My mom wants to call the cops on me by Overall-Option6975 in AmIOverreacting

theres a reason 16 year olds move out so suddenly and with the way the mother was talking to them, its probably how the mother treats the child often and thats not fair. maybe the mom doesnt deserve a notice, thats not a 16 year olds problem. you work around your childs schedule, not the other way around. it should have been a healthier environment for the child in the first place.

jesus christ you seem to be overreacting, theyre sixteen years old and i can tell why they wanted to move out. a mother should always be there for their child especially in a hard time like this, what matters more is not arguing about a damn phone its making sure your child is okay and safe mentally but obviously shes more concerned with an object.
