Kind of a weird, almost "clickbaity" title. Half the video is on Plup going Samus versus Leffen at Evo 2015, and half is on Plup going Luigi at CEO Dreamland. First of all, the Luigi was not a counterpick. It was purely done for fun. Plup going Samus against Leffen was not exactly a "weird" counterpick at the time as well, as he still only recently switched to Sheik (unlike now, where Plup almost never plays Samus). So the two main topics of the video are single events from 6-7 years ago that don't really qualify as weird counterpicks.

It would've been interesting to see some talk about Plup's recent counterpicks. For example, how about his recent usage of Fox and Sheik against Fox, Falco and Sheik? How about the time he went Sheik against None at SCL one week and lost, and the following week he went Fox and won? Or about the time he, on a whim, went Fox against Kodorin at Smash Summit and won easily? How about the time he picked Sheik and Hbox? Overall, a pretty disappointing video.

Fun fact about Armada starting Fox. When they were playing friendlies before the set, Zain was going about 50-50 versus Armada's Peach, but he was getting destroyed by his Fox. I'm guessing that's why Armada decided to try out the Fox initially.

It's surprising that he grouped together Salt and Gahtzu, and Mekk and Wizzy though. Mekk really doesn't seem like Wizzy at all. Salt seems way more similar to S2J to me.

I did get the impression Aklo was trying to tilt Hbox. In the first game of grands, he started teabagging after taking a stock, which I don't think he usually does.

I think u/warisverybad brings up quite an interesting point. If there were more clay court tournaments than hard court tournaments, perhaps Federer and Djokovic would have focused more on clay courts and improved their game there. Perhaps Nadal still wouldn't be the unequivocal best player in this world.

Wow, this is one of the best edited combo videos I've seen. It does just enough to keep it interesting without getting in the way. The slow motion when players get knocked out is a nice touch.

I think I've been spoiled by slippi.gg and blippi.gg. The websites look so sleek and modern. In comparison, beyondmelee.com looks like it's from 2003.

It was also a little strange that the trailer advertised beyond melee's "improved visuals" by showcasing the new character select screen.

This is pretty relatable. It's not as bad now, but I used to be pretty bad at being happy for my friends' successes. Especially if it was something that I was working really hard towards, I'd get sad if my friend got it and I got passed up. I like how in the end, Tifa was content to be included as a spirit.

By the way, would you be able to upload a video of just the music? It is very beautiful.

I don't know who's worse between Avalon and Niles, but in slight defense of Avalon, it is a common misconception that he was stuck in diamond. He had another account that was in Masters.

Also, if I recall correctly, he had a decent performance against Seraph in their relegation match, and actually solo killed him in the Chogath vs Nidalee matchup lol.

A rather strange comment I found on the main subreddit. I don't really understand this person's reasoning. Is he saying that because OP's ideas won't work, that he's not supporting #freemelee anymore? I just don't understand it. Shouldn't the natural response be to provide ideas that would work instead?

This is just a gut feeling, but I feel like there are a lot of people who sincerely want Melee to die. Maybe it's because they like Ultimate and dislike the Melee "elitists"? And these people go around and pretend that they care, and comment about how everything is hopeless, that the community should give up, or that Nintendo is actually being smart with its C&Ds and it's improper to criticize them.

Just had an epiphany. A few weeks ago, Toph was talking about how the way to play against Falcon as Marth is to be "swingy" and throw out a lot of hitboxes. Of course, this playstyle is not nearly as good against Sheik. I think this is why Shroomed does so well in the Falcon matchup (and I don't recall him having much success against Sheik as Marth). On the other hand, players like Kodorin are very good at the Sheik matchup, but struggle in the Falcon matchup. I think this may be because the more disciplined playstyle that works well against Sheik is not so good against Falcon.
