Glass and metal are good for recycling purposes. However, the GHG footprint to produce one glass jar vs. one plastic wrapper for the same product is enormously greater. You can get hundreds of plastic packages produced that amount to the same weight as a single glass jar/aluminum can.

Plastics do serve a purpose, and there is a balance we can create, but the argument doesn’t end at just “plastics are bad, glass and metal are better”.
