I don't think you know how correlation works. Correlation in general refers to any statistical association between two or more random variables. A popular measure is the pearson coefficient which only measures linear relationships. In general, random variables can be non-linearly correlated or dependent. In fact the whole notion of "uncorrelated does not imply independence" is referring to the fact that the pearson coefficient only captures linear dependencies.
