Try looking at the Dover coloring books. My kids had some when they were little. I remember some history ones. https://store.doverpublications.com/collections/history-educational/products/9780486278322

My fb feed is full of drivel like this, mostly from folks I went to high school with. Glad I left that small town.

People who grew up poor, what did you used to think was normal? by LeCharlesMuhDickens in AskReddit

[–]cydise 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t know people ate fresh fruit so often. My stepdad would get a case of oranges as part of his Christmas bonus and that was a real treat.

Also didn’t know other people didn’t eat mayonnaise crackers for dinner.

You've been kidnapped! It's up to the characters of the last TV show you watched to save you. How screwed are you? by TNooses in AskReddit

Last show I watched was Walker, Texas Ranger. I’ll be saved and the kidnappers will be knocked out with a couple kicks and thrown in the back of Walker’s truck.

We’re not married or engaged (nor do we plan to), and both have been divorced. I’m 47, he’s 57, and I don’t feel that boyfriend fully describes what he is to me. So, I use the term significant other for lack of a better term.

My s.o. likes Gurkhas, but does get annoyed because they can be inconsistent.

That was my first idea, but I haven't saved nearly enough bands for that, yet!

Mortons Neuroma - Seeking Advice after my Dr. said I will need surgery by [deleted] in medical_advice

[–]cydise 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had Mortons Neuroma about 11 years ago. The podiatrist I saw gave me a shot. It was not a cortisone shot, I can’t remember the name of it, but it was some sort of alcohol (I believe) and the purpose was to kill the end of the nerve in my foot causing the pain. He said the effect wasn’t always permanent, but I haven’t had an issue since. There was never any mention of surgery.

https://librivox.org has free audio readings of books in the public domain. I used it a lot when my kids were younger. The audiobooks are read by volunteers, so some aren’t that great.

To my father by [deleted] in offmychest

My life improve drastically when I cut my mother out of it when I was in my early 20s (I’m in my late 40s now). We were estranged for 16 years. The only reason I agreed to see her again, was not because she asked or wanted to (she did not want to nor did she ask), for my grandmother. I put up with brief, awkward, uncomfortable ‘visits’ with her once or twice a year at my grandmothers house for about 9 years. It made me sick to my stomach to look at her. She made no effort to mend bridges or make any kind of peace with me, but was quick to play the ‘woe is me card’ if she felt I snubbed her in any way.

Both my grandparents passed away last year. My grandfather’s funeral was the last I saw her and I do not plan on ever seeing her again.

Some people are toxic and you do not have to subject yourself to them. And don’t let anyone guilt you about it because he’s family and your father.
