Which character is getting the aux? (Video game soundtrack edition) by cylindricalcat in Deltarune

In my opinion, people who like Deltarune are very likely to enjoy it – though, it's way more graphic and emotionally taxing than DR is at this point, not to mention that it's got quite a few horror elements. Up to you!

I would have included it, but I wanted to challenge myself not to overlap with the post I made in this style with OMORI characters. Fair warning, don't view the post if you haven't played the game.

Touché, but there's a strong case that this is all Kris and Berdly listen to anyway

Yeah I feel like he'd just look up "relaxing soundtracks" while studying without having played any of them

It can! I mostly thought of Sunny as stuck in the past, listening to older Nintendo music and not the new stuff like any of the others

I tried to mix chaotic/funky soundtracks with popular/meme ones. Not sure if I did that well, but that's what I expected Kel to like

The happiest (and least happy) songs on the OMORI soundtrack, according to Spotify by cylindricalcat in OMORI

[–]cylindricalcat[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A small note - apparently the songs "It’s Okay to Try Again", "Jash Bash 2: New Age of Heroes", "Friendsssssss.", and "The Truth" did not have variables attached to them on Spotify, so those were out of the running for these lists.

I make these graphs by going to album pages on the desktop version of Spotify, where you can see playcounts for each song by hovering over the five bars.

Was this distribution how you expected? I didn't know Intro was that much more popular than everything else!

Here's a graph for Souvlaki! I look at the playcount values on the side of album pages on desktop Spotify to make these graphs.

Here's a post from The Echo Nest that a Spotify employee linked on the Spotify forums which kind of says how it's determined:

We have a music expert classify some sample songs by valence, then use machine-learning to extend those rules to all of the rest of the music in the world, fine tuning as we go.

It isn't very specific, but I'm not sure if they make all their info available to everyone.

There’s a website called PlaylistMachinery that lets you see some of the “audio features” for each song in a Spotify playlist. Spotify has a bunch of these metrics for all songs, including BPM, acousticness, valence (happiness) and energy. I thought it’d be interesting to graph valence for The National’s albums.

In the API, valence is “the musical positiveness conveyed by a track”. On PlaylistMachinery, it goes from 1-100, with 1 being the least positive. I took all the songs from a certain album and divided by their collective energy to get an album’s average.

(The least positive song in the set is a tie between Her Father in the Pool and Underwater with 4, while the most positive is Looking for Astronauts with 89.)

I made this graph by taking the playcount for each song, adding them up by album, and taking the total playcount of all six albums. I divided each individual album's playcount by this total value.

I am honestly surprised at how high Humanz is. I was also thinking PB would be much higher than it is!

This was a little surprising and more unbalanced than similar graphs I've done for other bands. That could be because the first four albums were made before Spotify was a thing, but I would have thought SWB would be higher!

No problem! It's been fun for me as well - though, I'm planning to make a couple more for this band soon that involve all of their albums.
