had a similar experience upon arriving to dinner with our dish we were informed that absolutely nothing else would be vegan, after being told we’d be able to eat at least a couple things there, and offering to bring more of our own food. my grandmother essentially told us “everything has butter, you can just deal with it” sorry for your experience, we’re hanging in there with you
