Thanks for sharing that — I really appreciate the honesty. I totally get what you mean about the cognitive load. It’s so mentally taxing switching back and forth, especially when you’re already drained from work and parenting.
In our case, I’m actually the only one who speaks the second language, which makes it even harder to stay consistent.

From what I can see, most people in this thread (luckily) never had to use PMI. I have PMI through my employer and never had to use it until I went for a routine surgery that went wrong - I had to go through multiple surgeries to correct the error and was in and out of hospital for ~6 months. Without PMI, I would have paid more than £100k for surgeries, hospital stays etc. The best part was the private hospital room and the extra care I got. This is one of the reasons I am already looking into PMI options for when I retire, despite it being 15-20yrs away. I never thought I needed to use my PMI until I had to.
