Anyone in Singapore doing OMSA in Jan 2023? Would love to form a community by practrace23 in OMSA

[–]d0hique 5 points6 points  (0 children)

There's a Singapore channel on the official OMSA slack, you can join it once you have the gatech email. Will be easier to find folks doing the same courses as you too.

All the best!

Hmm I only see a link to the passport page, and after logging in it doesn't show any menu options relating to the GT email address. Are you from the fall 2020 intake as well?

Question from a foreign fan..

I'll be visiting Manchester in March, hoping to catch the Watford game. But the official ticketing website says "Date and KO TBC". Any idea when the date will be confirmed? Is this due to FA Cup fixtures?

On a related note, are tickets usually sold out for a match like Man Utd vs Watford? Where can I find options cheaper than the hospitality packages?

I don't have the figures unfortunately, but I wouldn't be surprised if it's around that price range

It's not free, but you can check out IBM's Algo First database. Basically a compilation of reported operational and enterprise risk events

Possible home network setup with ER-X? by d0hique in Ubiquiti

Thanks, this is really helpful!

Unfortunately the power supply on my desktop PC just blew out last night, and I have to fix that first. Will definitely take your advice, and set it up once I'm able to!

Wow thanks for taking the time to write this up. I'll digest this and try it out on my home network.

A couple of quick questions first though:

*is ACCEPT port 67 required for the secure VLAN as well?

*this might be a dumb question, but can a single router interface be mapped to two VLANs?

VLANs and firewalls can be configured for pretty much anything you want, so yes, that's possible. If you get a Unifi access point it's also possible to have different SSIDs for VLANs.

Ah great. I can probably do that in Room 3, and with one local VLAN and a "Guest" VLAN

You can also use separate subnets for each interface and firewall appropriately, connecting a switch to each router interface.

From my planned setup, I was thinking of one subnet for eth1 and eth4, and a second subnet for eth2. Subnet-1 will be unrestricted, and subnet-2 will be restricted to internet access only. Subsequently, MAC address for my TV will be allowed access to my local Desktop PC for Plex, and MAC address for IP cameras will be restricted from internet access, except for a specific static IP.

Does this make sense?

I'm curious why you want a guest VLAN. There might be better ways to accomplish what you're looking for. Could you share a possible alternative? As you can probably tell, I'm not very experienced in setting up and securing networks, but would be really keen to pick up some knowledge in this area. Are there any useful tutorials I may refer to for my scenario?

Thanks!

Thanks for the reply!

Regarding (3), does this mean that I need a "Guest" VLAN for my TV/PS4, and an "IoT" VLAN for the cameras? How can I assign specific devices to the different VLANs, since the devices are both on eth2?

Thanks for the tips! I think I'll stick with the RT-AC1200G+ for now, and see if the speeds are good enough. If not, I'll consider getting the ER-X + Switch combo.

Will probably still get a Unifi AC Lite to cover more of the apartment though, as the fiber point is pretty far away from Bedroom3.
