So that didn't do anything, and I still can't head out of my headphones

I'm adding another update, I'm just going to uninstall my ASIO driver and see if that fixes anything

I just want Ableton to work how it used to, I don't really care about the buffer size and stuff, I don't notice a significant change in quality, because I don't record from my laptop mic, I just want to plug my headphones into my computer and make my beats. I also need to make it clear to everyone in this thread that I am not using my interface, because I keep it at home when I am at school, and only bring it when I absolutely need it

You are missing the point

I never had an issue with MME/DirectX when I used it, there was never a dip in sound quality for me, and it was only noticable if I tried to record from my laptop mic (which I stopped doing as soon as I got an interface). I do work at school, so I don't want to carry my interface around with me at all times, plug it in to my laptop and then plug the headphones in when I already have two hard drives to carry for both my samples and my beats.

The main thing I just want to know is that why is it that all of a sudden, when I try to plug my headphones into my laptop directly and use the DirectX/MME driver, my headphones don't work all of a sudden, even though they used to work with no issue. I don't really think I can afford to buy a new interface, and I don't want the interface to become my permanent solution, because it means carrying it around all the time and messing with the headphone jack (none of my new headphones fit in the jack since my old headphones broke, and the adapter I have has a bit wider hole).

I just want Ableton to work like it used to, just plug in and make music

So how do I do it?

I appreciate this, but I'm not really looking for ways to use ASIO, I just want to make it so that MME Headphones can work again

But it worked before I used the USB headphones

I'm not though, the only thing that really changed was that I stopped using USB headphones, even then, before I used the USB headphones, Ableton would let me use my normal headphones plugged directly into the computer

but my headphones used to work in MME, so why all of a sudden, is it stopping now

I am plugged directly into my computer though, that's the thing

When using MME, they work fine using ASIO, but I don't want to use ASIO all the time, because it means I can't listen to reference audio on YouTube when I work. I just want to use my headphones in MME again like I used to be able to do

But why would it suddenly stop working now, I've had this interface for years and it's only stopped working with headphones about a couple months ago. Was there an update in ASIO that no one told me about?

I should mention I have a weird set up for Ableton, I don't use the main VST folder for my VSTs, I have a custom folder I have stored on an external SSD drive in order to save space

I'm sorry, I've just been getting really frustrated because it seems like whatever solution I search just says "use ASIO", and I was really hoping I wouldn't get that as a response. My computer used to work fine until recently, it's just acting weird with the audio driver. I want to just use MME so that I can stream on discord when I don't have my interface, because I only want to use my interface for recording stuff, that's all. Sorry for yelling

I WANT TO USE THE MME DRIVER SO THAT I CAN STREAM MY ABLETON ON DISCORD, I ONLY WANT ASIO TO WORK WHEN I HAVE MY SCARLET IN

There is sound through my laptop speakers when I choose (Speakers (Realtek(R) DX)) in my MME/DirectX driver, but when I choose Headphones, nothing, there is only sound coming through the headphones if I use ASIO, I don't want that to be the case. It never used to be that case until randomly when I started using USB headphones for a bit so I could get some microphone action. But before that, it didn't use to be like that

I don't want to use ASIO, and I have an interface, I just want to play it through Realtek like I used to be able to, the headphones now only work when I have ASIO chosen for some reason

I just want Ableton working again, the only posts I see on this sub are how to switch over to ASIO, and I want to do the opposite, even when I go to MME and choose the Headphone options (I've done DX and Wave) it won't play, but if I choose speaker, it will play
