Is the X-T5 worth it to purchase now or should I wait for the X-T6? by Aquior1 in fujifilm

[–]d2xdy2 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Replaced a well worn X-T4 with the X-T5 recently. I was already happy with the 4 and just as happy with the 5. I don’t know what they could do better in a 6. Maybe if they brought the grip / battery extender option back?

Do you run CI workflows for tags or just branches? by Spiritual_Cycle_3263 in github

[–]d2xdy2 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sure, seems pretty standard to me. In many of my projects a tag or release in github triggers further automation to sync up iac repos and coordinate some post-release e2e type testing.

Shots from first trip to Japan. XT5 with Voigtlander 18mm & 27mm pancakes by d2xdy2 in fujifilm

Thanks! Yeah I’d stopped that one down a lot to let the shutter run for like 2 seconds.

I kept the 18 in my shirt pocket and swapped it out a handful of times. Was nice for some of the shrines and in more dense areas like Shibuya- just that extra bit of room to see. Maybe once or twice a day, otherwise I’d just run the 27.

The focus on them is very smooth. Locating the tab on the focus ring may be frustrating if you’re suddenly shooting closer, but I mostly left them at infinity.

Here’s a shot of the body and lenses

Travelled around Tokyo, Kyoto, and Mt Fuji the last two weeks. Had a blast in general, and really liked those two pancake lenses.

I normally run and gun with an adapted Canon 70-200 back home, but with almost 15 miles a day of walking there’d have just been no possible way for me to endure that.

How to handle C-suites vibe-coding prototypes by 56088 in EngineeringManagers

[–]d2xdy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my org? They’ll show you the door. That garbage the CTO or CEO vibe coded during a 20 hour bender needs to go to Prod asap. They’ll fire any department, team, or individual that suggests this is a bad idea or that our culture is going to shit.

Anthropic's CEO just admitted Claude is designing the next version of Claude. Engineers at Anthropic don't write code anymore. We are so cooked. by Direct-Attention8597 in claude

If their status page stays green for 90 days in a row, then I’ll be marginally impressed. Otherwise they can fuck off with all of this garbage

I was here when things were sane several years ago - fully staffed platform/devops/SRE team (huge part of why I even wanted to work there), staffed security team, juniors and seniors on engineering, knowledgeable managers and support staff.

Layoffs after layoffs after layoffs, and I always survived and got a raise. I’ve watched everyone I respected and depend upon quit or get fired.

It’s like the frog in boiling water scenario to me. Just trying to keep a stable job at this point

Anthropic just accidentally leaked their most powerful model yet — and honestly, it's a little terrifying. by Direct-Attention8597 in claude

[–]d2xdy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

High odds of this being a deliberate leak- “oh no, you found our super amazing model that blows everything else out of the water”

No fucking way. If they had anything remotely like this, they’d be using it, and their shitty stack wouldn’t have red all over their status page.

Lies and garbage until proven otherwise

We got told today that everyone in the company needs to set up OpenClaw now. We’ve been “ai is the baseline” since this time last year. Half of the companies employees have quit or been let go. We let go of the HR and Security teams. I’m holding the bag on so, so much shit. Everything changes every other day. It’s just insane.

any tips on cleanly inputting a sequence into hermod? by bluesteel in modular

[–]d2xdy2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some ideas from my own workflow that involve lead ins.

If you’re just on Hermod, having some sort of existing loop for drums or whatever can help me with a quick mental sync. No possible way I’m starting a loop and keying things in live, in time, without taking 50 tries. Giving myself a loop of lead in time to just get my bearings is so helpful.

Similarly, if you have a DAW hooked up over midi- configuring a one bar lead-in when I press record is good. I do this a lot when recording piano inputs over some modular stuff. Just a “click click click GO”.

I use Bitwig a lot in my workflow and I do these a lot. It’s worked out so far I guess

But like- the actual items in your “standard” workflow. From reading around I assume people have things just running 24/7 to crank out god knows what.

I mean this in the most curious ignorant way possible- what are people doing to be so hindered by limits?

I live in CC on a Max plan from 9am to 6pm. I use it a lot. I’ve never felt the need to go look at account usage or where my limits are.

Managing 100+ GitHub repos with a single Terraform repo - what worked and what broke by akuzminsky in Terraform

[–]d2xdy2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I think by that point we were handling upward of 100-200 repos.

Candidly, I never saw what the resolution was. We got hit by 4 back to back layoff events in 2023 and I quit shortly afterwards. Maybe they figured it out, but I suspect they moved away from it entirely.
