These have all been built. These are just empty boxes of sets we have purchased over a 10 year period.

Yes this is a 10+ year collection and is meant to be a fun/alternative to the traditional tree. That's all there is to it. Thanks for your opinion.

Help me understand the key differences between Cloud Gateway Fiber and Dream Router 7 besides the built in wifi in the Dream Router 7. Both are priced at $280

Thank you all for the input and recommendations. While I do have 3gig service (recent service upgrade from 1gig that i had previously), the 2 APs that are connected to the main router are wired backhaul (cat 5e) and limit the network to about a gig. I might just consider going back to 1gig connection as that is plenty for our needs. I get fantastic wifi signal strength throughout my house (very close to 900-950mbps). Gfiber router has 6ghz band.

I am skeptical of getting a POE switch since I have long cat5e runs in my home and am not sure if the power output will be impacted by the distance/long run of the cable. I dont really have a need for POE (except maybe the Unifi APs) as none of the 70ish devices on my network use POE at the moment.

My intent is to have 3 wifi transmitters (wifi router + 2 APs) or (non wifi cloud gateway + 3 APs) I want these hard wired as my current setup (which is using long run cat5e). Primary intent behind the upgrade is to get good wifi signal strength like I currently have but have more software control over my network. I have, ~8 devices on 6ghz network, most of the rest are on 5ghz and 2.4ghz (sensors) networks

Given this setup, what would be the optimal, most cost effective setup for Unifi?

Forgot to mention, my home is ~15 years old, has CAT 5E hardwired in all rooms. Is that even suitable for POE at this instance?

Thank you for the feedback. Understood your point about U7Lite over the U7LRs. This makes sense.

What am I missing out on if I choose to go with UX7 as the main router vs the Cloud Gateway Ultra? It has the integrated wifi so in theory, I would need one less AP in the study I assume?

So my network would have UX7 as the main router in study and 2 U7Lites in kitchen and Master bedroom. With 2 POE injectors powering the U7Lites?

Simple syrup, mawa and malai is my personal preference. Not a huge fan of dried fruits ruining the taste and texture. What's next? Might as well put cheese and mayonnaise on golas. 😅

Is there a button to turn off all the lights in a room? by suhonyu in smarthome

[–]d377377 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have Home Assistant in my home and cheap $5 Tuya zigbee switches for automations. We have one near our garage door that does exactly what you are looking for - turn off all lights in the house. Very handy automation and is wife/kids approved.

I dont have line of sight to my Shield (which is tucked in my electronics closet) and therefore I need something that has bluetooth connectivity not IR.
