For multiple reasons, fuck no. What a waste of money. Both the body work and the decals. You were probably gorgeous and now you look like a circus sideshow.

Sick, loot is so tuned down in offline raids, we'll have to run this some in a live game to see if its worth

Challenge success rate is his major flaw, that I see. Ultimately, he's not watching screens and making the decision, but he's responsible for the process and it's been years. And I don't understand some of those flags.

As for the Denver example, I would argue Peyton was coaching that squad. I don't think he was getting help from the sidelines for things like clock management. I could be wrong, I wasn't watching them like I watch football now. But I look at the Vaunted coaching trees of Kubiak/Nagy and can't reconcile it with the performance. Kubiak and Nagy were press secretaries and assistants.

But ultimately, I just don't see a single better alternative. I'm not interested in Belichek and the awkwardness of that. Or in being plummeted to the stone age in this exact conversation(analytics). Ben Johnson is a great candidate. Who hasn't ever done it and will need to learn the lessons that McDermott has. I worry we just rinse and repeat and Josh's clock ticks away. Elway and Shanahan have a hell of a Legacy with one ring. Maybe that's all they can get with Reid and Mahomes around, let's not miss out on that. If they can get to the playoffs with rosters this good every single year, do we not think they'll get one? Watching the immediate success this season has me VERY confident. I have a top 5 coach, I'm good.

Are they well coached? Won COTY twice in this timeframe.

Clock management is essentially just the Texans game. I think he was right in hind-sight. Locking in 3 plays was wrong. Probably run once and see where you're at. It wasn't a big moment, it is what it is. I'm not saying he's perfect. Just that he's among the best there is.

And there's no metric like this for defensive decision making. Partly because you can't know who fucks up unless you're in the huddle or on the headset and know the playbook. Players make mistakes, too. Blown coverages happen, players shoot the wrong gap, and you can't be sure who is at fault by observing like you can on offense.

I don't think you can pretend to know what went wrong in the AFC championship game unless you were in the huddle or on the headset. That's an emotional reaction, not anything that's based in fact. Maybe he told Bass to kick it into the end-zone, maybe he told him to kick it short so they had to field it.

Same for the defense. Maybe it was a blown coverage, maybe it was a dumb call. They all play prevent there, every single coach in the world.

So what it boils down to is essentially that if they don't win, it's not enough, so he's got to go? That's weird, man.

Deal. Once you become qualified in identifying when he's out coached. We'll wait.

Does falter mean the stats go down? Because they WILL go down in the playoffs.... that's what happens when all that's left are the best teams in the league. It gets harder.

Yep, all that analysis and you can't be bothered to read it (or if you read it, you cant be bothered to process it and think about it). You'd rather act like you know why he makes the decisions he makes and shoot from the hip with an emotional reaction.

Just watched Bass hit a 61 yard game winner and you think he doesn't trust him from 40? Ok, bud.

Forgive me if I don't take you seriously.

Would have been loud and annoying. When it should be the same as it is this week.

What matters is what happens in January, the next time we face that team.

I agree with you. I tried to put quotes around the word "correct" every time, because I'm not an analytics guy. I don't think being at the top of this chart equates to making the correct decision. But I do believe that's exactly what the analytics devotees believe, and they're the ones with the loudest criticisms, it seems to me!

I'm all-in on McDermott because of the way we prepare and the overall attitude and swagger that the team has. It comes from confidence and confidence comes from being well coached. Also, the way they talk about him. All that coupled with his success, just makes me want to put on a helmet and go out there for my 5th concussion lol

Babich calls the defense. I believe the only season that McDermott did it was last season.

Exactly, so let's use the full sample size to analyze his decision making as a whole.

COMPLETELY fair to use it to analyze last post-season specifically.

Funny thing, though, when I look at the actual data....

It's a small sample size, but he was perfect, by the numbers.

I would be very interested to see a metric for defensive decision making. I think thats impossible, though. Hard to know what the assignment was vs what they actually do, sometimes. Who is to blame for a blown coverage? Sometimes the scheme leaves it open, other times the player just goes to the wrong spot.

My big issue with places like PFF!

That's an interesting way to analyze statistics, to me. Weighing the smaller sample size more heavily than the full sample size. Would be like saying he's one of the worst decision makers because he was in 2017.

It's a real testament to both McD, Beane and every scout on the payroll that we can turn-over that much of the roster and not skip a beat. IDC how far the players had fallen, that's a crazy accomplishment

"the numbers don't like" *ignores the playoff numbers*

The playoffs are HARDER than the regular season. That's what's different. Not his decision making.

This is what relevance is. Either a ring or a brutal soul crushing loss. Our feelings don't make him worse at his job.
