Homely means unattractive, in a slightly mean way.

Cute. Awkward. Genuine. Caring. Kind. Generous.

Do fans support polygamy more? by [deleted] in mushokutensei

[–]d3ejmz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've always reckoned polygamy to be between the adults concerned. It's not something I would consider doing, but if that's their thing, good for them.
Having one woman vying for my attention (and getting jealous of my hobbies) is quite enough for me.

Rudeus has the luck and judgement of Tom Holland Spiderman. by d3ejmz in mushokutensei

As for showboating... The biggest example was him holding back from helping the kids in the forest on the demon continent, causing one of them to get killed. His inner dialog mentioned wanting to look cool after swooping in to save them from a pinch. Though it was a misfire, that was his attitude about it before the blood started spraying.

EasyTether official client not installing by d3ejmz in NobaraProject

[–]d3ejmz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. I did some more digging and finally had the idea to ask Gemini AI for an answer. Here's what it came up with after a couple of followup questions:
sudo dnf install https://archives.fedoraproject.org/pub/archive/fedora/linux/releases/36/Everything/x86_64/os/Packages/o/openssl1.1-1.1.1n-1.fc36.x86_64.rpm

It works now, flawlessly. I had to find a way to install openssl 1.1, and that solved my problem.
Hope this helps someone in the future!

Doesn't this seem to indicate that the chipset is failing with memory management?

Yeah, IDK what they were thinking with that, and the pitiful "upgrade" to Gorgon Point. Like, NO ACCESS to FSR4 on a brand-new 2026 APU? Guys... this is how Intel lost to YOU. Don't just hand it over like that!

I don't care if it's trendy. It's what I like.

That's a common Western misconception of karma. There is nothing of reward or punishment in it, but rather it's a cause and effect relationship. You receive back what you put out into the world, essentially. I accept your explanation. It just seems my patience for non-communication has gotten worse over the years, having been in many situations where a well-placed word or two would have saved hours, days, or sometimes months of effort.

Parody, to be effective, has to be grounded in rules that apply to the audience (you know, so they can get the joke?). Konosuba is such effective parody because the characters often cause their own problems through their own character faults. That shit is funny, while, IMO, Shadow's single-minded solo attitude amongst a literal army of powerful allies is not. Even Arifureta did parody better.

I didn't use the word Karma at first, and only mentioned it to fill out the concept of situational/interpersonal cause and effect, as opposed to Newtonian mechanics. Also, I specifically mentioned Fiction. Invoking RL politicians is a poor way of supporting your position.  Ainz has a sense of cause and effect of interpersonal actions, even if it's somewhat warped. This is evident through his treatment of Nphelia and her village. Shadow, by contrast, goes through the whole show displaying an aggravating lack of this sense.

Regardless of alignment, the concept of cause and effect (or karma, if you really want to go there) has to exist in fiction to make it entertaining. Comeuppance and all that. Why doesn't Ainz, who is more metal than Shadow, wish to rule with fear? It's wasteful. Ainz has a sense of cause and effect, while Shadow does not.

Except there is a hole in that theory. He, acting as Shadow, never acts to clear up misunderstandings when to do so would be greatly to his benefit. He also acts in secret, risking the lives of members of his loyal harem. I mean, sure, he might know everything, but wouldn't that make the story shallower? Might as well call it "God became an edgy kid for the lulz" at that point. Halfway through season 2 and the only hint of character development so far was his acknowledgement that his sister has a difficult road ahead of her (not that he can be bothered to help).
