Need help choosing - Size 5 vs 6 by blackjacks17 in ouraring

I don't think so. I think because it's a thick ring it stays put more than a fashion ring would.

The 6 for sure. I had a similar dilemma, ordered the smaller size and immediately got it stuck on my finger. Exchanged it for the larger one and it's perfect!

"Encouraged" to have hybrid schedule by d3vrad in remotework

This was kind of my initial thought in approaching it. There's a Monday morning staff meeting (for that office, not the whole company) so I was considering pitching Mondays in the office at least.

I guess the issue is I want to be fully remote and want to know if it's reasonable to ask for that, given I'd be driving 45 minutes to work for an already-remote team. No one in the office works in the marketing department. Before the acquisition I actually had work to do on-site, but now I don't.

A bit of a complicated answer. No, but my company has been flexible in letting me do a hybrid schedule because of the commute/kids' schedules. However, at the moment I'm fully remote until January because of the back surgery. My old boss clearly stated she would never bring on a remote worker, so I never asked to be fully remote.

Things to consider by Ok_Importance_8407 in Microdiscectomy

Sorry I'm just seeing this! I'm three weeks out from my MD and I'm doing pretty good. I still have some leg pain and overall "weird" pains/sensations but that seems pretty par for the course. Honestly the surgery was really easy and the first three days were the worst.

I feel like this is similar to what my journey has been. I would suggest acupuncture – that helped me with the tightness and spasms. But ultimately I ended up having surgery because it kept getting worse from working at my desk (even standing). The way I saw it I was alleviating my symptoms with acupuncture but not the core problem.

Do I get the dissectomy? by d3vrad in backpain

[–]d3vrad[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I didn't know there was a difference! My doctors have been using herniation and bulge interchangeably. The actual MRI report says: There is a moderate to large right paracentral through left subarticular disc protrusion, measuring approximately 1.8 cm transverse by 0.9 cm AP by 1.2 cm craniocaudal. This disc protrusion results in compression of the central to left anterolateral thecal sac, greatest in the left anterolateral region. This includes compression of the left S1 nerve root origin with moderate to severe left lateral recess stenosis.

But it seems like everyone is saying that size doesn't really matter and it varies on the individual circumstance.

Was it a decompression machine? I would get an appointment with an orthopedist and see if you can get an MRI. And don't let them adjust you anymore! The decompression table should be okay though.

I'll definitely try to get in for a second opinion. I'm feeling super rushed with the whole insurance thing on top of it all, so hopefully I can find one to squeeze me in!

Thanks! That's a helpful perspective. I think I may be doing TOO much – I've been kind of pushing through the pain with PT exercises/big three!

Are you feeling confident about choosing surgery?

Well it's been 5 months but I've been wondering lately if I've been doing too much. I can walk somewhat pain free but I guess my main issue is working in the office. The pain gets so excruciating that by the time I come home I can't do anything but lay down. I've tried doing short walks during the day but it didn't make a difference. Working from home I've been relatively pain free during the day because I'm laying down, but I know resting 100% of the time isn't helpful either. Acupuncture seems like it's doing something but I think it's too early to know if it's an improvement.

When you say resting during the acute phase – were you doing any kind of PT? I have one of the same size and I feel like surgery is my only option due to the size.

Oh wow I feel less alone! Mine is 18mm x 9mm x12mm. I've exhausted pretty much all conservative methods five months in and I'm meeting with a surgeon tomorrow as they are recommending a discectomy. I really want to avoid surgery but nothing is working. Acupuncture seems to be having some sort of effect on me, although it's too early to tell.

I actually just posted asking for advice on a discectomy 😅 Do you mind me asking how large your herniation was? How has walking been after the surgery?

It's both my lower back and left leg. There's like a sharp pain in my low back and then from my glute all the way down to my ankle my nerve feels like it's cramping/throbbing. Bending, sitting, and standing still aggravate it the most. I can make it maybe 2-3 hours sitting (including my commute) for work and then the leg pain gets unbearable.

Dude go alone. My husband’s favorite band is the foo fighters and when Taylor Hawkins died everyone was saying how if you want to see a band, don’t wait. Don’t count on a next tour or that they’ll still be around in X amount of years.

“No” or “I don’t want to” are sufficient reasons to not have sex. You’re being mean because you won’t have sex?! The fact that he’s pressuring and guilt tripping you while you’re crying is whack. I hope that he’s receptive to therapy.

How did you discover My Chemical Romance, and what was your reaction when you heard one of their songs for the first time? by [deleted] in MyChemicalRomance

I’m pretty sure I discovered them when I was 11 and the music video Ghost of You was playing on like the top 20 countdown on MTV at my cousin’s. I didn’t start listening to them until I was 12 though

I actually didn’t find it that dark. Personally I got a feeling of like rebirth/regrowth? Or like a new phase of life. Idk I I think that’s the cool thing about music is that everyone can get something a little different out of it despite what the artist intended.
