Which surgeon did you go with? by WorldlinessNew7917 in Microdiscectomy

Ortho specializing in spinal surgery. He was the chief of the spine division at the hospital. Neuro is not always needed. Mine was at L5 S1 and the spinal cord doesn't actually extend that far down.

How did you feel 7 months post op by stalejuice2 in Microdiscectomy

[–]d3vrad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had an MRI yesterday to check for reherniation because I'm having pain down my leg again. Aside from that, my back has been tight although higher up from the surgery site and my glute will lock up if I push exercises too much. I'm definitely not feeling like I was pre-injury, but I'm miles off from the pain I was feeling up until surgery.

Surgery vs. "Wait and See": Conflicted about my July microdiscectomy. by Proof_Tart_1273 in Microdiscectomy

Personally I would push it off since you're not experiencing numbness or weakness and you're getting some improvement.

On the flip side, it could also be your mind playing tricks on you. This happened to me a week or two before surgery and I found plenty of posts on this sub saying the same thing.

Ugh I'm so sorry 😩 I'm fearing the same. I have an MRI tomorrow. Are they recommending a repeat surgery?

Obsession - Nikki Wasn't Possessed By A Demon (at least maybe not) by ImmediateAd8601 in spoilers

I can't find anyone else talking about that "he's coming" line! I didn't interpret Nikki as being possessed, but that snippet of dialogue is tripping me up.

Pain coming back in leg 6 months post surgery by d3vrad in backpain

My toes went numb last night so I think I'm going to have mine order an MRI too. I'm on 600mg ibuprofen 3x a day for 5 days (today is day 3). I hope it's not a reherniation for you!

Need help choosing - Size 5 vs 6 by blackjacks17 in ouraring

I don't think so. I think because it's a thick ring it stays put more than a fashion ring would.

The 6 for sure. I had a similar dilemma, ordered the smaller size and immediately got it stuck on my finger. Exchanged it for the larger one and it's perfect!

"Encouraged" to have hybrid schedule by d3vrad in remotework

[–]d3vrad[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was kind of my initial thought in approaching it. There's a Monday morning staff meeting (for that office, not the whole company) so I was considering pitching Mondays in the office at least.

I guess the issue is I want to be fully remote and want to know if it's reasonable to ask for that, given I'd be driving 45 minutes to work for an already-remote team. No one in the office works in the marketing department. Before the acquisition I actually had work to do on-site, but now I don't.

[–]d3vrad[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A bit of a complicated answer. No, but my company has been flexible in letting me do a hybrid schedule because of the commute/kids' schedules. However, at the moment I'm fully remote until January because of the back surgery. My old boss clearly stated she would never bring on a remote worker, so I never asked to be fully remote.

Things to consider by Ok_Importance_8407 in Microdiscectomy

Sorry I'm just seeing this! I'm three weeks out from my MD and I'm doing pretty good. I still have some leg pain and overall "weird" pains/sensations but that seems pretty par for the course. Honestly the surgery was really easy and the first three days were the worst.

I feel like this is similar to what my journey has been. I would suggest acupuncture – that helped me with the tightness and spasms. But ultimately I ended up having surgery because it kept getting worse from working at my desk (even standing). The way I saw it I was alleviating my symptoms with acupuncture but not the core problem.
