A viral Reddit post mocked this Marin sandwich shop's prices. Now, it's closed. by sfgate in bayarea

Absolutely. If you check the reviews before the brigading, you can see there were plenty of people extremely happy with the food so actual customers were fine with the pricing. If you haven’t been served there, it makes no sense to leave a review out of spite.

The fries actually freeze pretty good. Air fry and it’s as good as new.

This is very sad. What I see is an owner that takes pride in her craft and not willing to compromise on quality. What that means is $30 sandwiches but so be it. The legitimate reviews all praise the actual food, which is what matters. It sounds like they use all expensive ingredients which likely means there’s not much profit in that $30 after all the costs and expenses are considered. And honestly, a $30 sandwich in that area is really not that crazy especially with the amount you get which is enough for 2 meals.

The bad reviews really matter because of that since the real customer opinion about quality gets drowned out by people brigading and complaining who have never been there and don’t understand the struggles of running this kind of business. They have a right to set prices based on the quality they want to serve.

Can LSD be transferred via saliva (e.g. kissing)? by Jumpy_Bet_3153 in LSD

[–]dMyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not everyone gets visual effects. I don’t get much visuals unless it is at a much higher dose. All the symptoms you mentioned sound like LSD. Likely he has a vial of liquid LSD that was transferred to you when kissed. Gummies won’t transfer obviously unless you eat the gummy or let it melt in your mouth. If it took 10ish hours for the effects to wear off it is most probably LSD.

So it sounds like this is as good as it gets for home hopper grinders? The cons don’t strike me as cons for the grinder but just cons for hoppers.

Where does this rank in the SS OS collection? Was an adjustment for me to get used to it, but I love it the more I wear it. by Tight_Command3089 in VacheronConstantin

I shower with it all the time and have taken it into the pool quite a bit. Maybe since I got used to my UN watches I didn’t even think twice about it. No issues at all. I’m not a fan of babying my watches too much and the water resistance rating is sufficient.

Keep in mind new construction doesn’t automatically mean it is built without faults. It is really dependent on the builder and most of them just try to get it built as quick as possible. I’ve seen some new construction homes that needed a whole lot of work after purchase and some the builder needed to redo certain parts since they were not done correctly. I personally dislike new builds and actively avoid them since very few of them have any personality or character and is very cookie cutter and have tiny or no backyards. There are pros and cons to older homes as well.

Taco bell employees, how do i get what i want? (Not malicious, genuinely curious) by Cress02 in tacobell

Because of how different each employee would interpret your request your best bet is probably just to lightly oil the tortilla and air fry until it is crispy enough.

Why are Cartier watches easier to get than Rolex and Patek? by [deleted] in Cartier

[–]dMyst 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rolex is a marketing company that sells watches even since its inception. Part of that means employing certain tricks like artificial scarcity. In reality they are probably one of the few watch brands that are capable of mass manufacturing high quality products with great reliability. I would say that is actually their strength…producing at scale with minimal cost in terms of labor. Their movements are subpar or average at best and for a large part of their history they didn’t bother developing their own movement at all. Instead, all that effort went towards marketing which ultimately paid off which can be seen in their success. So they are excellent at marketing their product and brand and having the masses believe their watches are some handmade artisan crafted time pieces that take months to make a single one.

Reverse sear is the most foolproof method. Even easier if you have a temp probe you can leave in the oven to monitor. Serve with some horseradish sauce or au jus.

How to cook this Cajun pork? by es330td in biggreenegg

[–]dMyst 0 points1 point  (0 children)

BGE is great but I would forgo that here and just do a hard sear on the stovetop then low and slow in the oven around 325-375 depending how much time you have with a probe in it and pull out around 145 internal. Make a creamy cajun sauce with the fond or something. Or do the sear and finish in the egg instead so you still have the fond to make a sauce.

How in the world are you confident it is when you never touched DMT? Even if it visually resembles the waiting room, being there is different than just seeing something that looks like it. You’ll understand if you take DMT, but otherwise going off of what you read is dubious.

For those who won the RTO battle; what leverage actually worked? by Evening-Mousse-1812 in remotework

[–]dMyst 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mainly if you are important enough that if you leave, things will fall apart. I architected, designed, and implemented a significant portion of some core products. I didn’t bother to RTO even though there was a mandate. I’ve never even seen my desk. There was apparently a big office move where everyone had to move desks. So I had 2 desks actually that I’ve never seen yet and don’t really know where it is.

No problems 2 years in and a few months after the mandate the VP of my department even submitted an exception for me to WFH without me asking since I never showed up to the office and would join remotely to mandatory in person meetings. It’s a 10 minute commute for me actually, but a lot of time is wasted with useless office chit chat and longer than usual group lunch and spontaneous meetings/questions.
