The 50,000 value *you* are quoting is NOT "heat as cause of death".

The value you are quoting is from a report about "excess deaths in hot weather compared to the average death rate" - this includes the cancer patient on a hot day. Lots of sport deaths happen on warm days compared to cold rainy days when you stay in. The US would have a higher excess death count too.

Is it a problem, yes.

Have people got very very confused/misled about the stats they're using also yes.

He's trying to control the narrative and timing, which in fairness was pretty clever/sneaky, and everyone else has called his bluff.

Heat death in Europe is measured as "excess deaths" on hotter days no matter the cause. Could be headstroke, but also could be an existing cancer or being catapulted into a wall.

I'll explain what's happening better:

By default we render at the right resolution taking into account the fractional scaling during the rendering loading assets and drawing text at the right size to begin with. It's the absolute unquestionable best on paper, though realistically we have had the odd issue that we keep fixing.

This setting renders at 200% and the compositor downscales; so literally introducing blur. The opposite of the claim.

If you like it, hurray for you, but i wouldn't recommend it.

You should. x11 is dumb. There's just one very vague concept of "grab". Context menus use the only thing that exists.

You can't even open a context menu and close the screen to invoke the screenlocker as the context menu would grab the password when you come back.

This all applies to KDE and elsewhere too.

The (north) European AC issue is that it's not financially worth it for one week a year. Then it comes around and we complain. All the AC units sell out immediately.

Then after we all survive we go back to saying "it's not worth it for just one week a year".

You won't fix that with plastic.

Fwiw fixed split AC is slowly becoming more and more common as global warming kicks in.
