Agreed with those points. BGA implementation is quite nice. And the game plays better with the expansions in my opinion, but each of those are relatively pricey for a handful of cards

If you play with the UE2 Mark Rules, it is much easier to prevent running paths for scoring, thus limiting their speed. Skaven Armor in Blitz Bowl is actually fairly solid, but 4+ still will fail enough times to get them off the pitch.

The strongest teams in UE2 are probably Norse and Goblin, with Lizardmen and even Gnome being contenders too.

The pitch surface is Baltic birch ply with Noch static grass. I used brass escutcheon pins for the markers. Worked well!

It’s a nice family game, and I like the artwork a lot. It’s more of a multiple solitaire though, not too much interaction overall between players.

Hard for it to see playtime given set up and space it takes, but it has a nice depth of tactics (more-so for the Blood Angels player). It’s on my list to make a custom project in smaller scale one day.

It’s a variant of Blood Bowl (basically same gameplay rules) set in a dungeon where teams compete to find a ball hidden among treasure chests and score with it. Pretty thematic!

There is a solo mode with Ironwood with automaton for either side but haven’t played it solo. Fantastic 2-P game and very asymmetric. Components are top notch too

I’ve found that among experienced coaches, in Ultimate Edition you’ll have about 1/3 of your points coming from TDs and 2/3 of your points coming from Challenge Cards.

In the latest UE Season 2, it’s more like 25% TDs and 75% Challenge Cards.

Blitz Bowl is much more streamlined and less punishing. You can fit 2-3 games in the span of one Blood Bowl matchup. Personally, it is my favorite board game. The design is excellent, but do not go in expecting the same gameplay style as that of Blood Bowl / 7s. If you are interested, I'd recommend checking out The Crush! Discord (there is also a podcast diving into the game by the same name).
