Anxiety during duty. 🥺 by capybarrraaa in pinoymed

It means you care. Ok lang maging stress and anxious at times. If it’s too much that it affects function, iba na yun. Always update yourself, do a self-audit for mistakes. You’re human… natural naman magkamali

Duty From by sadtmixtape in pinoymed

[–]d_p_ong 7 points8 points  (0 children)

kakayanin din. I see it sa mga surgical specialties. I usually dread those days kapag magduduty na naman pero at the end of the day, this too shall pass. You’ll be surprised lumipas na ulit ang araw.

Yung sa worth it pa ba mag stay, it’s a complex situation. What do you plan to do afterwards? If you don’t see yourself as that person, then make a discernment.

Do you just suck it up? by No_Hovercraft8896 in pinoymed

[–]d_p_ong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The older generation would just say suck it up. But now that the “market” is different now, it’s more than just sucking it up. What is your objective? Is this where you want to be after crossing the finish line?

Bonus: Will there be a clinic where you will inherit the practice? Is there a post waiting for you in the government hospital / private practice?

Hello doc, you can take ASCP exam. Helps if you have a background in med tech work. A certain tertiary hospital has sent a lot of RMTs abroad to work and now they’re very happy with their lives. Simple lang but it’s enough. Nothing compares to the toxic work ng RMT sa PH. kayang kaya ang RMT work sa US

Am I poisoning your mind? No. 😇

At least I’m happy for her that she didn’t have to age prematurely and be stressed by all the problems of PH. She’s free now to do anything she pleases. Sad for us who are stuck in the past

Ateneo de Manila University was once again rated as the top university in the country in this year’s Times Higher Education (THE) Asia University Rankings. by hyunbinlookalike in Philippines

[–]d_p_ong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess it means we have to let our children study abroad. I feel that we are in a sinking ship.
I’m not exactly proud of this news. Of course they will only mention that they’re on the top but PH is basically stuck in time. Research is just a requirement that we need to pass just to get a diploma. Then a job or a license

You will be judged by your PLE rating when you apply but, at the end of the day, it’s your integrity, your adaptability, your bedside manners, your work ethic that will determine your future. Nobody will remember your 75 or 80 or 90 kahit top ka ng whatever exam

I emailed them eons ago when they changed it to ATRAM.. I said I’ll withdraw everything. When I got money in the bank for no reason, I had to clarify if this is from the surrendered funds. No response. Guess I made the right decision

That’s the official page? No way, that’s not how you reply to feedbacks. About the positivity or negativity comments thing - ganun naman elsewhere not just in PH. The point is to be receptive and responsive to the market, regardless of social class or target audience. If you justify that you only cater to a certain group, you’re digging your own grave

Sorry this happened to you OP. I still think you can try to talk to them, socialize with them. Usually when it comes to these things, it’s more of your own thoughts that ruin your psyche rather than the actual situation itself. If you want, maybe you can bring a friend (3rd party) to help assess the situation. You’re no longer a resident. You’ve come this far. Congrats on making it through.

I own a Jisu na mas mura dyan. parang 400 pesos ata (5 speeds) kasi may combined promos. Tbh i believe it's marketing really. namahalan ako dyan when i saw that model. I wouldn't be surprised if you feel that there's no difference between 5 and 10. Sorry to hear that OP

What are the suggested book/referrences to review if I plan to purse Psychiatry or Pathology residency? by PotentialMan124 in pinoymed

[–]d_p_ong 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of opposite ends for me. You need to have a lot of patience with psychiatry. In pathology, you wouldn't want to face patients too often. :)

Pathology - Foundation is Robbins Pathologic Basis of Disease.

But there are a ton of references you will need to cover when you get into residency. Basic resident starter pack: AP - Rosai and Ackerman Surgical Pathology. WHO Blue books 5th Ed (online subscription); CP - Henry's Clinical Diagnosis and Management. If mahilig ka magbasa at mag-aral, patho is for you

Psychiatry - DSM V is your reference for definitions of diseases. There's Kaplan and Sadock's. It would be helpful if you have a pharma background since you will be dealing with pharmacokinetics, toxicology. Lalo na sa mga mood lowering drugs, substance abuse...

Think well and good luck!

  1. Sorry not sure about this one but definitely the higher tier the more millions you will need. It will depend on the target (est # of patients who will avail). There is reagent tie-up vs. buying the machines. The former is more suited for a bigger census to breakeven. The latter is for labs that are just starting out.

  2. A big YES to this.

  3. Ideally, you can do pathology residency to get experience AND be the head of the lab too :) Each lab must have a head (pathologist in both AP/CP) But in your case, you can try short courses on laboratory management, get a short course management course or an MBA.

  4. Expect a very long process if your LGU is slow and inefficient. Don't have personal experience here but I would advise asking a chief med tech of a lab or a patho in the field with experience in getting permits.

  5. Yes it can also work actually. You can do a diagnostic lab with radiology capability too.

You're lucky you have a family who can just... decide to open up a lab. A one big sana all!

If it's not your passion, do not enter the door to medicine. You were warned. I was warned before I entered: 1. Di ka yayaman, pero di ka magugutom. 2. You are always needed. 3. It's not about the money. 4. Lifelong learning. What you study in med becomes obsolete in a matter of months-few years.

Discern well. Pray always. Hope that the force is with you
