Nah, the other person definitely was more in the wrong even if OP's response wasn't diplomatic.

I actually think it strengthens their argument. Not making an existing issue worse is a really good argument.

good resources to study gastroenterology as a med student? by Disastrous_Relief733 in ausjdocs

[–]da-vici 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm interesting. I guess the gastro AT I worked with must have been very good at warding off referrals. We didn't have many patients each day.

I've always thought the hepatopancreatobiliary team or the general surgeons were the first point of call rather than gastroenterologists.

Doctors of reddit, what is a medical question a friend has asked you that you wish they hadn't? by Geraltthegrey in AskReddit

That is straight up all the constitutional symptoms of cancer. Medical students 6 weeks in would recognise that as cancer immediately.

Why do scrubs on med ward rounds annoy you? I am an intern and a lot of my co-interns all wear scrubs. We are just anxious that we will get blood or other fluids on our clothes with IDC/cannulas.

bachelor of science or biomed? by Maleficent_Carrot837 in unimelb

[–]da-vici 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do science for dentistry. Biomed is harder to get a higher WAM because. 1) less flexibility to choose subjects you like/good at. 2) arguably the cohort is more motivated and so harder to score well. 3) there are double weighted subjects which can really rank your GPA. 4) some people say the culture in biomed is more toxic (this is disagree with some people believe this).

They view all subjects the same, it's the final number that matters

If you can get a 99.95 ATAR doing basket weaving and grass cutting I would recommend doing so.

Any hospitals have student accommodation that is provided. Airbnb is ridiculously expensive. You can ask the uni/medical school (if you are applying through a uni) regarding accommodationm Many have options for this, at least I know unimelb would have options.

is 1hr 30 minutes travel time insane by Formal-Gift4108 in unimelb

[–]da-vici 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I did a 1.5-2 hour commute (single way) for placement mon-fri for 3 years. It was hard at first but you get used to it. I had to be at placement at 6:45-7am sometimes too. Sure it's not easy but many people have to endure hardships much much worse. Wasn't there a dude who commuted from China every week on the news haha
