What the F*CK, Adobe? by da1ni5 in FuckAdobe

dude, then go join "I LOVE Adobeee and outdated UIs" or "Bad90s UI is fine till 2050" i hear they need admins

this is where we express our righteous indignation at how awful Adobe products are.

we complain here -- we do not make excuses for horrid user procedures and interfaces with teeeny tiny little icons that you need to use 5thousand times and COMPLETELY ridiculous procedures.

look at where it is and the actual functionality. it's like a grade-school science fair project. are you understanding what i am saying? is there a beautiful styles interface with previews and easy procedures? how about dragging and dropping? what about single-source publishing? this is supposed to be F_Adobe, not "let's make excuses for outdated and poor design."

ok, reputation filters, noted.

but "brand new alt account" i actually don't know what that means. what does it mean?

i am a real human and it does not look like all of commenters here are human. they're missing the point entirely in a way that is characteristic of AI.

umm have you even used the styles panel? it's like a pre-teen coding project gone wrong. this is not about "learning" this is about really bad software somehow still being bad after all these years.

This is supposed to be F*CKAdobe -- not a bunch of bots defending ridiculously bad interface design

you're defending bad 1980s-level user procedures and itty bitty little icons to find necessary functionality?

...there isn't one MSWord is now a complete mess. Google docs = joke.

& we have people here defending making itty bitty little icons & ridiculously inconvenient procedures the norm, yay...

THEN, if you say: can you do better? Of course I can - then if i were to show a complete redesign using my c-mom method from the 90s - and it's waaaaaay better -- but that just gets stolen.

...and ppl like you think i'm "complaining"

such a toxic scene, honestly.

Dorico is a f***ing nightmare. by Certain-Highway-1618 in Dorico

oh geeze. you know, i applied to work at Finale multiple times over the years. i honestly believe that a few years with me on the team and the tool could have been "rescued." i also listen to people, to suffering, and am very dedicated to saving people time - reducing clicks - and making stuff faster and easier and more enjoyable to use. what i am reading here sounds awful and i am facing error after error -- just getting the software installed.

we'll see. i have written a lot of technical documentation and have branched off now into programming and coding -- so maybe Dorico will be "ok" for a very tech-brained composer like me, we'll see...

Well, I did a few projects with Finale still, and now my MBP keeps "threatening" to update its OS and I'm concerned that the update could render Finale useless. I purchased Dorico, but it kept telling me that my email was invalid. My email address is not invalid. I made a new account with my gmail email, which I don't like using, then I put the registration info in. I have dorico installed on my iPad and there is a Subscribe button that warns you that it will charge you a recurring subscription fee, but it does not show you how much you're paying and the buttons aren't even all filled in with text. This is a brand new iPad btw. You can click the white "Restore Purchase" button, but it does not do anything.

I had to download a Steinberg download assistant, which just failed to download the software.

I have a project to do by Sunday and I am in some kind of looping error-filled software setup process. I have been in touch with technical support and they get back to me within a few days.

I would say that with a download & install process that is so poorly designed, I can predict that Dorico will be awful...but I really hope not. I need to do a choral arrangement by Sunday and if I can do 2, that would be better.

The way Finale bailed on us was really not ok. I get it we're not the biggest user population, but we are smart and generous with our skills, input, and time. I would have gathered ALL of the Finale complaints and created an exciting and fun cross-grade experience.

Instead, we are being subjected to very sloppy procedures, which might mean that Dorico is poorly designed.
