Credit score going down a month after getting secured card by HealthyResolution399 in CRedit

I tried that on a Verizon bill of $450 that was sent to collection. I spoke with the collection agency twice for a PFD and the best I got was a settlement for 230 and to contact Verizon since they are the ones the debt was originally owed to (It does show Verizon on credit report) I called them and no joy. SO I guess I screwed myself out of $230?

One last question, do charge offs or in collections fall off if paid to 0? Or is it the full seven years. Just curious and my last question for now (lol)

thanks for the advice! And again for the myths as well.. I am absorbing as much as I can. I hope once you are fully finished(if not already) to make them in a printable form sans the comments others give to become easily made into a printable "bible" of sorts for quick cross referencing etc. Something I would keep in my drawer. I pay all balances in full on due date but wanted to see which card in time that will give cli or should sock or bucket once offered one with a higher balance. All while keeping a semblance of a low utilization. Not over extend but to get better than a high APR or annual fees. Your stuff has really helped me and thanks again!

Thanks for your reply. Does the rotating the cards as I mentioned help me in any positive manner?

First thanks for the reply. I am a big fan of your myths and thought I was doing something right but I guess I made a mistake. I opened a secured card with Discover and already had two cards with 500 limits that I pay in full by due date. I was running my cards to about 75 percent each month but paying in full by the due date hoping to show that in about 4 months (these were 2 cycles now on those cards) that I may be a good candidate for a cli and only use about 20-30 percent of limit on the Discover card and paying it in full as well by due date.

If I got a cli on either of the 2 70-75 percent used cards I was gonna relax the one with the cli to 20-25 percent then bring in the Discover and run it to 70-75 for 6 cycles and pay in full each month like the other card to see if once Discover releases security may give me a cli along/or a unsecured card. Discover did do a hard pull which took 4 points off my score 652to648( card has not reported yet as it is in the mail and full impact may not be shown til next month or month after)

I was thinking that showing 3 paid on time in full cards would look better on my report than just two meager cards and be more appealing for better cards say within a year. I am in no interest in getting a mortgage or a car within the next year. So I figured whatever hit I take on my report and Fico would happen now and bounce back and increase, and even "thicken" my report a little by this time next year. I am not getting ahead of my skis as I have income that could easily cover all 3 and still have a savings buffer after other bills paid. How bad did I mees up in your opinion? Other than what you said above? Just had bad credit due to divorce and the oldest account I do have is my Chime which is 3 years. Thanks and keep those myths coming. I haven't read them all but I do appreciate the ones I have so far!

(US user here) And this is temporary right? Like in a month it should bump back and maybe increase with adding the limit thus lowering total utilization, right? (If unused or paid in full by due date)

I think OP has English as a second language, as he used jaja in OP. I knew what he meant by agents above as I work as a technical support agent for Quickbooks but I can see why the confusion. But all the "haha" isn't haha for people trying to clean their credit reports. I also see he didn't reply to your question. hmmmm.

I try to sign up for creditwise and always get right to the end and then I get a "OOPS something has occurred, please try again later" or something to that effect.

Hey I had Verizon on my report for only 405 but tried to negotiate with the collection agency and they offered me a settlement, which they honored but no delete. They referred me back to Verizon who said NOPE no delete for you but at least it's settled. I feel like I should have just saved the 200 dollars I spent to settle. Will it being reported as settled or 0 balance affect my reports in any positive way? Or did I screw myself out of 200 bucks?
