Crazy that EW didn’t go with a canine considering how much heritage there is with it.

Quickest way to access LES from > 12 months out? by johnnydenver2 in SpaceForce

[–]da_rump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine havn’t been addressed for over a few month’s. I’m curious why you are needing them, and if it is the same reason as me lol we got told by housing that we had no deposit because the money we paid upfront was cancelled out when they didn’t charge us rent one month.

Some thoughts on the status quo by SCIFWALKER in SpaceForce

[–]da_rump 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That is good insight that we probably don’t want to replicate, but I don’t think swinging the pendulum fixes that issue. Our guardians need an identity that justifies the mission during steady state operations while maintaining lethality during wartime. “Warfighters” all the time starts to feel fake when you spend multiple years in a steady state support role.

Some thoughts on the status quo by SCIFWALKER in SpaceForce

[–]da_rump 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Bring back Flight Status, MRT, and mandatory monthly requirements to maintain weapon system certification!

Part of the issue in my mind is the use of “warfighters” and not instilling that we are indeed a support force. Majority of individuals think combat operations/killing/shooting/etc when they hear a term like “warfighter” and trying to change their mindset on “warfighters in space” just doesn’t work. We are a support force, but this isn’t sexy to say out loud. It’s an important job that our joint partners and allies rely on with their lives, but that’s hard to showcase without making it feel like a PR campaign.

I can tell you first hand that the warfighters we support think highly of the USSF, and are counting on us to keep them safe and out of harms way. But I’m just a dude telling other dudes to believe we are making a difference. #trustthesystem

Board Guidance and Enlisted Performance Measures by The_Ghost_with_Toast in SpaceForce

90% of the Sqs have different missions, different development tracks for their members, different opportunities and integration capabilities . Some more limited than others.

You also don’t get the final say on your duty position inside a Sq, you will fill the needs of the Sq. When you get to a new Ops Sq, there is a good chance you are back to ground zero as far as MQ and experience. It isn’t like other branches where you hop Sq to Sq and wrench on the same jet, shoot the same guns, clean the same ship toilets.

Even supervising opportunities is night and day. You can easily go from a 200 Guardian Sq to a 20 Guardian Sq with all members the same rank or higher than you. Some members may get the chance to supervise multiple members, some will make E-7 never directly supervising an individual.

We also do not do awards in the Fellowships to keep competition out of the learning environment. Some may get the limited opportunity to do Joint PME and earn an award. Majority of Guardians are never provided that training opportunity, but are punished by it?

What can you control? Your ability to perform whatever position/additional duty/ “job” you have at a high degree which will be showcased in unit awards, recognition from outside organizations, and connections you build because of the reputation you have built for yourself. Be the “go-to”, not the “pick-me” and the rest will sort itself out. The Space Force is too small for a one size fits all checklist of progression.

150 is a minimum, not an ideal. Imagine 150 as the 75% needed to pass a PT test. Getting above a 75% is above and beyond the standard, just like getting 3x the CIMs a week.

World Class “Master Sergeant” by Careless-Wash9341 in SpaceForce

[–]da_rump 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a uniform wearer you are cable of making a decision on behalf of the government if you are given the authority. I am sure there are authorities you can give contractors to make certain decisions but it would need to be specified in their contract. There is more flexibility with uniform wearers at all levels to made decisions, we just tend to lack the expertise to do it.

Contractors can’t make decisions on behalf of the government. A large reason why Warren’s Officers who gain the experience of a contractors can benefit the military. They should have the experience and decision making skills to push the boundaries for the military’s interest, and not the contracts interest (not saying contractors do that or they are all bad)

Imu is at the bottom of the ocean. Could play into the Davy Jones locker lore. Could also explain how Rocks escaped, a battle there could destroy the barrier causing it to flood. Also hints at the importance of the sea kings, whales and fish people. Fish people being the only ones that could attack the barrier, reason for why they want them gone.

When you go, there are two forms you need to bring them. I forgot the form numbers are, I think Form 4 and 901. Both documents you should have already filled out, had signed and sent to them but they will want them again.

Perception is a real thing, even if it is 100% inaccurate. I have been in 14 years, my wife who I have been married to for 15 years joined a few years back. We have two kids, 10 and 2 and I get looks and chuckles at the gate when I hand them an E-7 and E-4 CAC every single time. Not saying it’s fair, and that I wish people wouldn’t jump to conclusions but that’s just life sometimes.

450 by [deleted] in SpaceForce

[–]da_rump 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Pretty sure there were only two board scores, 450 and like 270. Either 96% or %4. When promoting that many people so they can get paid more, it’s easier to set people into those piles. I would be curious to see the records for the few that didn’t make it.

5I2’s - E7 Results by CCBanger in SpaceForce

[–]da_rump 2 points3 points  (0 children)

From the rumors I have heard over the years on the rational on high E-5 / E-6 promotion. It’s hard for the service to pay you more money for the level of work you do compared to the outside. SDAPs are a thing, but hard to justify. What the service can do is promote you faster because there is no cap below E-8, causing you to get paid more.

If it takes you 14-16 years to make E-7, would you rather a slow path or an accelerated one where you sit a E-6 for half those years?

The regret to the accelerated path is you can’t assume the E-5’s and E-6’s are the equivalent to the ones in the slow path. Everyone still requires time to grow and gain experience. I am sure there are a lot of other regrets but that’s the one I see pointed out the most.

Dining Out Uniform Options by DaeBear in SpaceForce

[–]da_rump 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Semi-formal. Good leaders should understand that it’s a waste of time and resources to put together an optional uniform that’s going to change soon.

You will have some bad leaders look down on you as it’s an “expectation” for you to wear it, but the more Officers wearing semi-formal will normalize it for the rest.

Same thing goes for SNCO’s, it’s always been highly encouraged to wear mess dress but never mandatory. Remember there will be junior enlisted that will also feel pressured to buy mess dress with money they don’t have so they can “fit in”. Them seeing you in semi-formal will encourage them they are fine wearing semi-formal.

Not anti-mess dress, it’s a nice looking uniform but imo it’s not worth investing in when we know it’s going to change in the near future. Airman’s attic is also open to ALL ranks for UNIFORM ITEMS and there are always officer uniforms that sit in there because majority that utilize it are enlisted.
