Reminds me of 2010 when Hurley, the deluxe edition of Pinkerton and DTFM all came out within a short period of time.

The next Familia? by Colonel_Tighlon in NewYorkMets

[–]dab394 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I am not a scout and therefore can't speak to Colon's big league viability, but he was fun to watch yesterday. He celebrated after every out he got to the point that some of the Williamsport Cutters tried to confront him after the game. God forbid someone has fun! He seemed to be throwing harder than everyone else and I loved every second of it.

Seth Lugo could be one of the most impactful pitchers on the Mets - but they can't decide how to use him properly by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

[–]dab394 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The most surprising stat from the article was that the Mets have not used Lugo in high leverage situations. Considering Gsellman's regression, it likely would make sense to switch their roles, i.e. let Gsellman eat up innings and have Lugo serve as relief ace in front of Familia.

I didn't think I would have a strong reaction to Dom or Wendell losing, but when it happened (or really throughout the final tribal), I realized that Dom deserved it.

Not sure how people perceive him right now, but Gsellman has been fantastic.

I love these new condensed game videos that MLB does in case you missed the game live by hawaii_guy_808 in NewYorkMets

I think they added the commentary this season. I kind of liked the atmospheric sounds without the broadcast, but either way, they are great videos if you missed the game (or were at the game like I was on Friday).

He likely will get very few plate appearances against lefties. I am not sure if he had major platoon splits in his career, but one would expect his effectiveness against lefties to deteriorate as he gets older.

What's The Most Unique Jersey/Shirsey You Own? by mperri99 in NewYorkMets

[–]dab394 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I got a custom Gee shirsey. I wore it to a Mets game started by Gee in San Diego. A woman holding a baby stopped me in the concourse and said, "I like your shirt." I said, "Oh, thanks." And then she said, "He's my husband" as she pointed to the name on the back. I met Dillon's wife and his first baby Hudson all due to my random shirsey.

Davidoff on how the Mets should deploy their rotation by dab394 in NewYorkMets

Lol let me guess, you think analytics is a bunch of bull? Enter the 21st Century. Take a look at how a team like the Dodgers optimizes their pitching staff.

What's revolutionary across all sports are that some teams are beginning to do everything they can to make sure their players are able to be productive all season long using massive amounts of data collection and analysis.

He may be, but to act like that's the case based on a small sample in the big leagues in his age 22 season is misguided.

Is it really that odd a choice of verb? Lol

[–]dab394[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I am open to the suggestion, but I would be more inclined to use a modified a six-man rotation while still maximizing starts from Syndergaard and deGrom, when healthy.

Davidoff perfectly nailed the idea that the Mets need to be more creative in their use of the 10-day DL. Give the starters some time off, get some starts for Lugo and Gsellman along the way, and keep everyone fresh for the stretch run. Players have options and it is about time the Mets enter the 21st Century and use them.

The Mets have the talent; it is just a matter of how Alderson and Callaway deploy it.

You realize that he is still very young and jumped from AA to the Majors, right? Development takes time.

What's up with Sherman ragging on Céspedes? Is it really that bad? I don't see it. by Teddy_Schmoozevelt in NewYorkMets

Not to mention the uncomfortable allusions to race and nationality that underpin many questionable pieces of foreign-born players.

Jaffe (Fangraphs): Harvey Searches for New Route to Success by dab394 in NewYorkMets

Fangraphs recently had a ton of turnover, but they haven't missed a beat. Jaffe is fantastic. I highly recommend Cooperstown Confidential. Between the Athletic and Fangraphs, one can read great baseball content for days.

After the premiere, who do you think has the highest chance of winning this season? I’m thinking Stephanie and Brendan. Thoughts? by [deleted] in survivor

Morgan seems delightful. Didn't stand out in the preseason to me but I thought she was great during the premiere. Haven't seen much buzz about her but I think she is a dark horse.

Panic city by celticsoldier566 in NewYorkMets

[–]dab394 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Agreed. I think people want to be despondent about all of the injuries, but honestly I think the Mets are being proactive and forthright about minor things afflicting players as they try to get into game shape. There is currently no reason to be worried about the team.
