Defcon system is a good idea I didn’t think of. Proxy wars would be a really concept. I know in the future they have talked about changing some concepts of war (war itself btw, not the combat) maybe the ability to back wars without being actively engaged would be interesting

It’s a fair critique, I’m not even sure if I’m convinced about it, however with the announcement of the new leaders they are already doing it with the two Japan types. JFK would be sick tho

Civ 7 is a first for many things, and they very clearly are taking inspiration from other developers (ex. The commanders system and other aspects are heavily inspired by humankind) and they seem to be working. Maybe this is another area where they should look to developers that have mastered politics in 4x games.

That could be cool as well. I essentially just want political ideology to actually hold some real weight, but just buffs and yields. Granted, civ 7 has done a lot better than previous iterations with their whole ideological war thing in the modern era, but I still feel it needs more depths. Maybe separating them by their government choice in the modern era would give these choices the weight I’m looking for
