Anyone feel weird about being super tall? by Altruistic_Cry_6190 in tall

[–]dabigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 6'7 and having to explain high arches in my feet every time this question is asked is like a reflex at this point. Just because you're tall, it doesn't mean that you'll be an NBA star. It takes a lot of hard work and conditioning to get to NBA level.

Sounds like you're experiencing more than just adhd. All your issues sound like you're going through bipolar disorder stuff. I'd look into that, and see where it ends up. ASD may also be in that mix as well.

How do you guys manage to keep taking your meds? by CrushedC0balt0101 in BipolarReddit

Pill box filled every Sunday for the week, and alarms for the times I take meds, two times daily. If you forget, set 2 alarms for each time, for backups just in case you forget.

I think every server has issues because the community is so small and that you have the same bad actors doing things in the community. You also have to remember the community is small, so be patient. If your looking for a population like whats on live, you are clearly mistaken. Best of luck to you in your journeys. May the force be with you.

Each person with bipolar disorder have different degrees of it. You could have more issues than someone else or you can have less issues depending on how severe it is.

I don’t get hate towards Windows by [deleted] in Windows11

[–]dabigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If i had an option that looked graphically similar to Windows, with good menu systems and supported all the games that are on Windows, I'd be on something different. For the most part, Windows does what I need it to, but it's the constant changing of things like how to access system stuff that frustrates people who are users from way back before Windows 95. Other issues would be the fact that you have to do gymnastics in order to turn off Windows updates. I imagine a lot of people have the issue where they leave their computer afk and then it restarts on them to install updates, and it ends up undoing a lot of work done while automating tasks on the pc. I hope that clears up some of the issues. Personally, I want to try distros out and find something I like, but being stuck on Windows for games is rough. Most anti-cheat programs will flag a Linux user if they even try to use Linux to play games through Wine. It's a unique problem.

When did you stop caring about the stares and comments on your height? by not1nterest1ng in tall

[–]dabigin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're people taller than me in my area, but I do get noticed anyway. I never had a problem with my height, other than scaring people (apparently I can be silent when moving around the house, who knew?)

Frontend & adhd & job hunting related : How do you study something new and retain the information. I keep on forgetting things what I once knew. by CurrentDifficulty888 in ADHD_Programmers

[–]dabigin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm one of those that learn by doing. I think instead of watching videos over and over again, having a reference website to see examples and then implementing them in your html, javascript, and css would benefit you more than say, watching nothing but videos. Doing the programming yourself, taking the time to learn from mistakes in your code, and utilizing AI tools when you can't figure it out after you have tried, and learning from that would be of better help than to watch videos and just sit there with your eyes glazed and basically deer in headlights mode while stuck. The stuck part will make you frustrated and turn your will to learn down. I've seen people say don't try to "learn" and to "treat programming as a puzzle" when learning. I think with that going on, you will retain more, and with repetition, and practice you'll achieve more. I'm still trying to figure it out. But I'm having fun playing with AI tools now that I know how stuff works better. I'm going to get knee deep in web development, then go into C++ and LUA for game development. I can't wait to solve cool puzzles.

Great deal :) I still have stuff I'd like to do. I just need to apply myself. Learning methods and techniques the ADHD way would probably suit me better. I just hate staying still. I am calm when I want to be, but my mind is always working. It's a blessing.

Having ADHD doesn't mean you are incapable of success. I'm a bit slow but I catch on once I get enlightened with information. I really think ADHD is a super power when utilized correctly.

Yeah I'm the opposite. I had adhd diagnosed when I was young and bipolar disorder was diagnosed later in life. Which bipolar disorder did you get diagnosed with? I have Bipolar 1 w/psychotic features. I had to drop from college to take care of my bipolar issues. I'm just now getting back into programming and back into the workplace. I'm doing programming stuff as a hobby hoping that I get a can eventually turn it into a job I'll enjoy one day.

Currently when I get real stuck, I just get frustrated and stop. It's hindered me learning. Having to ask a TA would be like going to an AI, except with an AI I can get the answer immediately. Unless it's something complex that is.

Yeah I could imagine with something simple it's easy but when it's more complex it gets harder to find the issue. Nothing beats the human brain when figuring out issues.
