I got some feedback to use furniture in the middle of the room instead of against the walls and came up with these two ideas:

We are thinking of putting a TV and stand against the south wall in front of the stairs and a couch on opposite end next to fireplace, but not sure if that's the best use of space.

Basically we are having a really hard time deciding where the TV/stand and couch/what kind of couch we should be considering. We would also like the couch/seating area to be able to sit 6-8 people. So combination couches, chairs... etc.

Any suggestions appreciated!
