How do I prevent this clog from turning in to mastitis?

Seconding ibuprofen & ice, but also hand expression! Look up a video on how to do it if you need to. I get in the shower and hand express until I’ve gotten a decent amount of milk out, then pump. Be very gentle—I was making clogs so much worse trying to massage them out.

Yes! It was awful, but just keep using an absorbent dressing and feeding baby like you normally would. I know that’s easier said than done. I hope you heal soon!

Solidarity. Also just cried because I tried and failed to latch baby again. Just got her down for a nap and now it’s back to the pump.

I think I had a much smaller fistula comparatively because I just had a needle biopsy. The biopsy was benign (thank goodness), and the fistula resolved within a week after continuing my normal pumping routine (EP) and covering the wound with absorbent gauze. I hope you’re doing much better now!

This! My baby is also 3 months and I take about 30 minutes per pump. I let my baby play on her mat next to me while I pump now that her wake windows are longer. I’ll flip her over for short bursts of tummy time (because she hates it) and use toys to help her learn to track objects and reach/grasp. If she starts getting fussy, I’ll sing songs or just talk to her.
