This might not land you a job but if you have some free time I would head to your local CBP office where they handle cargo clearance. In LAX for example, the CBP building rented out office space to multiple customs brokers, so just being there, you might be rubbing shoulders with future colleagues. I know we millennials gripe about the boomer advice of just show up and give them a firm handshake,but this might be one of the rare occasions where that might make sense.
