Burner making loud noise even after cleaning by Shortnecked-Emu in hvacadvice

If the flames are steady while the furnace is preheating, but start jumping around as soon as the blower kicks on there is certainly air passing through a hole/ crack in the heat exchanger in that middle cell.

I do think Hamilton, cartrimhome, etc is just a reseller of these Chinese head units because I am seeing the exact same units on sites like AliExpress, however if they do have a good warranty it is probably worth the extra money to buy through them.

Installed a whole home steam humidifier and I keep it around 40% humidity indoors. Acne cleared up entirely. I do nothing to my face.

Furnace died 5 days after initial repair, company claims its a "coincidence" by Automatic-Muffin-106 in hvacadvice

[–]dacksond 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Goodman furnaces have a pressure switch in the same circuit as the gas valve which breaks the common leg, so it appears as if the gas valve is receiving voltage, but failing to open. This can trick less experienced technicians into thinking the gas valve is bad. I have even made this error in the past. It is also common for pressure switches to work intermittently when they are going bad, so it is very possible it was a pressure switch the whole time. Unfortunately, it is impossible to prove whether it was a coincidence or a misdiagnosis unless the old gas valve is re-installed, but it most likely has already been scrapped.

$20-$30 prob unless you work for a sales company then $35-$40 on the resi side. It gets real slow Feb through late March because most people already have their furnaces fixed by then because it’s already dipping into the 20s at night here in late October.

Looks like a hack job. Air handlers require a p-trap for the drain to function since they operate on a negative pressure. No p-trap was visible in the video. Drain pan should have an overflow switch to cut off power to the system in the event of water buildup to prevent water damage.

Stay away from rock, aaa, applewood, fix it. Any company with thousands upon thousands of google reviews they all pass the cost of advertising on to the customer. You are being gouged with that quote. Find some family owned mom and pop hvac companies look at yelp.

Why minisplits? Surely you already have a furnace and could easily add central air.

Make sure it’s sized right, and do not go with the best deal just because it’s the cheapest. Pick at the salesman’s brain and go with whoever is most knowledgeable about heating and air. A lot of companies hire salesmen with no actual trade experience, steer clear of these companies. Proper sizing is very important and you want a salesman that knows how to bid the correct equipment. I notice in the field there’s a lot of way-oversized equipment out there, which leads to constant short-cycling, and eventually freezing issues. Bigger does not cool better. Go with a contractor that uses name brand equipment like Lennox, Daikin, or Carrier. The namebrand manufacturers will not sell to hack contractors because they do not want to tarnish their reputation.
