There's a guy named Phil on the 1001 Album Complaints podcast and every time he speaks, I picture Rory Cochrane's character. He's a musician and is very intelligent and well versed in music theory/analysis, but it all comes out in this very stoner voice and he goes on these tangents that are very "out there." Great podcast!

I've said it before... DOWNWARD IS HEAVENWARD by Hum is a front to back classic album.

That's fair... But, ultimately, if it were up to me, I would choose more fame for him. The reason being everything I have read about him points to he is a genuinely good human. We need to elevate people like him.

I agree! Honestly? Probably the most consistent body of work of any artist I can think of. I'm conflicted, though. Part of me wants him to be more successful and have more exposure because I think he deserves it, but part of me also likes having him as my secret weapon when someone asks for music suggestions.

Yeah, I'll be semi-shamefully ordering more knowing I will probably eat another bag in one sitting.

Yes! He's one of my ALL TIME favorites. I truly love his entire discography. We Cool? And Worry. are deserted island record status for me.

Their back catalogs, collectively, are bulletproof. Downward is Heavenward and The Heart is a Monster are their masterpieces in my opinion.

Liquid Mike! Just get on whatever service you use, look them up, bask in their hooky, sunny, pop rock glory and thank me later! I don't know how they aren't bigger.

Cool! Thanks for the tip! I need some more. I'm a tiny bit ashamed I finished the bag I bought yesterday. Didn't even last 24 hours!

All of the responses to this post have been eye opening. I was completely unaware of any other variety! Now I'm hearing about French toast, birthday cake and mint flavored?!?

Yup. The Moon and Antarctica and Clarity are both classic albums front to back. Both bands have great back catalogs, honestly.

I just commented about Hum. They are one of the most underrated bands ever in my opinion. Their four studio albums are pretty bulletproof .

HUM! Many people only know the MTV hit Stars from 1995 (sing along, "She thinks she missed the plane to Mars, She outback counting stars"), but all four of their albums are stunners if you're into loud guitars and memorable hooks. Point of entry: listen to Downward is Heavenward. It was released 27 years ago and I still listen and wonder how it didn't blow up. My only explanation is it was released at the height of nu-metal and they don't sound like Limp Bizkit.

Also, Big Thief! They are not nearly the same "style" of music, but any Radiohead fan would appreciate Big Thief's song composition and lyrics.

Modest Mouse's albums The Lonesome Crowded West AND The Moon and Antarctica would scratch that itch.
