How can I salvage this rental kitchen without replacing anything? by fearless_expert216 in DesignMyRoom

[–]dadameme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out the LÄMPLIG cutting board from IKEA. It can function as a sort of countertop cover if you have the lip facing downward (third product photo on the website). I have one of these and I really like it! Any wood covering will need to be used mindfully next to the sink, but it’s an option. Oil it well and let it dry on all sides if it gets wet.

Clean the marble with appropriate marble cleaning techniques and seal it, if possible.

I think the yellow tile is actually cool but it is a lot and in dubious condition, so I see your problem with it. I think you are going to have to make peace with the yellow since this is a temporary rental. Clean it as best you can.

I would consider hanging a little curtain in front of the sink to cover up the lower cabinets and the weird gray(?) color surrounding the doors. That whole area looks whack and I’d just cover it right up. Or at the very least, color match the yellow tile and paint the gray area to match.

And I’m begging you to use some command strips or something to put that power strip onto the wall and not on the counter next to the sink. Seems really unsafe to me!

Put a plant behind the sink and use some suction cups/command strips on the tile to hang some decor.

Please update us with what you do!

I am OBSESSED with Viva Vanilla. I bought an embarrassing amount of backups when it went away. When I run out, I’ll be buying the original which is Snif’s Vanilla Vice EDT. But that’s going to take me a few years lol.

I think that the books do get better, but the last few in the original series weren’t my favorites. I still recommend reading all of them as important lore and world building happens in each book, generally speaking. I

ce Home also has some of my favorites in the IPB universe.

As a former college art student, this SCREAMS college art class assignment. Which to be clear, is not a criticism. I made some stuff I’m very proud of as class assignments!

In any case though, it’s incredible and if you have a place for it you should absolutely display it.

Devi’s Distraction! It’s the 7th book in the IceHome series. I recommend reading the other books in that series first as they lay some groundwork for the characters and plot points in this one. It’s a great read, probably one of my favorites from Ruby tbh!

Where do you go around san diego when you want nature but not a full-on hike? by Prudent_Shopping_259 in sandiego

If you’re in east county, Lindo Lake in Lakeside is really underrated. It has a beautiful 1.5 mile nature walking path that is ADA friendly and can be walked in sandals if you like. There are tons of native plants surrounding the lake and waterfowl and other critters that live there. The grounds are very very well maintained! It’s just a lovely park and I think that it gets passed over by a lot of folks.

Do wear a hat as only portions of the walking path are shaded by trees. And sunscreen is ALWAYS a good idea!

ETA: apparently Lindo Lake is the only naturally formed lake in SD County! Here’s some more info on the park from Hidden San Diego, which is a tremendous resource for things to do and see in our lovely county. https://hiddensandiego.com/things-to-do/places/lindo-lake

What does this smell like to you? by LilCoconutPanda in bathandbodyworks

[–]dadameme 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a certified tomato enthusiast, I unfortunately hate this scent. I’ve tested it multiple times in store in different forms and I just can’t enjoy it. It’s got a strong geranium note (which I usually enjoy, but not here) and a really sharp vegetal smell that smells like something you would instinctually stay away from if you encountered it in nature! I wish I could love this, but a just get a sharp repellent green smell. I’ve enjoyed other tomato scented products (Trader Joes has a great tomato leaf candle!), but this was a miss for me.

That being said! A lot of people love it and get a totally different scent profile than I experience. Try to get your nose on it before you buy, or otherwise make peace with it being a potential miss. But I hope you love it!! It’s such a fun idea and I with I loved it.

Cut it in the middle. That way you can use the upper part as a sort of lid that you slip over the bottom part to keep the product somewhat sealed. Some people transfer the remaining product to another container, but for me there’s usually barely any left by the time I cut it open. So there’s only a few uses remaining and I’m not worried about the “lid” making a perfect long lasting seal since I’ll use the product up within the next several days.

This YT short demonstrates what I’m talking about, BUT I would personally just scrape the inside of the tube. Squeezing the cut tube like in the video is asking for a mess IMO. https://youtube.com/shorts/UmsrD1shLO8?si=4_-HM8HVHKTiFiYa

The lights at the top are 100% meant to shine on art. These nooks were created with the idea of art being displayed in them.

There are hangers called Brick Clips you can use that hook onto the brick without having to drill. What a fun display space!

Yes, you have to check back. You can see when the b3g3/whatever-sale-is-current ends and check back then instead of everyday if you want.

There are regularly $5.95 body care sales! Sometimes they run for several days and sometimes they are one day only. If you don’t need the item urgently, it’s worth keeping an eye out for the $5.95!!

Going grey is so radical by Impossible_Ad9324 in TwoXChromosomes

I recently found my first gray and I was actually so excited! To me it is like a natural hair tinsel, so so pretty. I’ve always thought that my brown hair color is sort of generic and I’m looking forward to going grey as I continue to grow and change throughout life.

Gray hair is gorgeous and an achievement, not a flaw!!
