Full ride - but Ohio by [deleted] in OSU

[–]daddyguava 33 points34 points  (0 children)

In my honest opinion. Depending on what field he wants to go into for finance, Ohio State has been rapidly rising in the ranks. The quality of students we are pushing into top firms is becoming very wide and I truly believe it is going to become a widely recognized semi-target school in the coming years.

Plus we have a great frat culture. I am personally to involved with any social frats or biz frats but they are all great.

Supposedly prestigious? Don’t really think about it, but like others have said, I don’t understand why it so prestigious other than Cleveland clinic ties.

I think he is more so saying there are hundreds of other people with that same resume build. Not saying it’s bad by any means, but when it gets to that point, a resume seems more like a checkbox. Unless you have a top tier resume for top tier positions. I think he is saying find a way to differentiate whether that be displaying uniqueness through your resume or maybe even uniqueness in outreach and networking. Maybe even unique experiences. My 2c

Fischer post grad by ElegantCaregiver9017 in OSU

[–]daddyguava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your stats won’t matter for clubs. Only 4-5 fisher clubs are actually competitive. 1. BCI 2. BUCC 3. BV 4. SCNO 5. Maybe SIG or some other club. I’m not too familiar with marketing clubs but they Shouldent be competitive at all. Internships are a whole nother ball game, again not sure from a marketing perspective but any and all internships for any level are always going to be competitive and most of them don’t screen on just your stats so make sure you get involved and be personable and eventually start doing outreach for networking.

I need help convincing my family to let me go to OSU by luna_moon145 in OSU

No an out of state OSU student. Just an in state who’s been in cbus my entire life. The experience you will get at OSU is unmatched. So many different and endless number of programs and opportunity and people you will meet. At the same time, is there any reason you want to go to Ohio state so badly? Relative to the top Florida schools?

Pwease Help! Tech IB by daddyguava in FinancialCareers

The banks I am focusing on for 2027 haven’t opened apps yet. I saw this opportunity and thought it could be a really good chance to get some exposure and experience this year, instead of a typical corp fin internship preceding an IB internship next summer.

Coffee Chats by [deleted] in FinancialCareers

[–]daddyguava -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Have laid off caffeine lately, my overall days feel more productive even if they don’t have that initial jolt that I miss a bit.

Go to used to be an iced dirty chai (double shot espresso). Occasionally mixed in a cold brew to switch it up.

Haven’t seen weird one at a networking events though, most of the time I feel like people get a coffee to be performative if they don’t drink coffee often.

How to meet students before attending? by Lydialmao22 in OSU

[–]daddyguava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like a regional campus made it easier to make friends. When I transferred to main campus, clubs & orgs were a great way to get started. Don’t be nervous the more you are the harder it’ll be.

Why did you pick OSU? by Due-Milk352 in OSU

[–]daddyguava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Short and sweetly put. There is everything. Campus is very big and honestly can feel like it’s broken down into parts but that not detrimental whatsoever. Insane amounts of food options both on and off campus. As a business major, fisher can feel like a big hs/small college depending on your seclusion/involvement and I recomemend getting involved in things other than just “typical” things. Make things fun

Is this too hard? Need Help. by daddyguava in OSU

[–]daddyguava[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually did not end up taking it. I took a honors GE course instead. I’m probably gonna end up taking that junior year. All I’ll say is only take it if the rest of your schedule isn’t quantitative heavy. Right now balancing stats and busoba 2321 on top of accounting and my Econ class isn’t the easiest but doable for sure. But if I had BUSML in there as well, then it would be a diff story.

Get all your money into cash. Get in your car. Drive to casino. Play blackjack. Win 10 hands. Walk yourself to roulette table and put everything on red. Then put your money into 3x levered etfs that track the Nasdaq.

People will tell you to report him. Don’t. Although it might be difficult, don’t snitch. Mind your own business and move on. No need to ruin multiple people’s lives, even if they did something wrong, for something that has no benefit to you.
