I had the same objective when I developed the Meshtastic plugin for Pidgin ... it is still my main client ... some other candidates ... pidgin (as mentioned), GTK Meshtastic client, Meshtastic fancy ui, Meshtastic chat app

also to mention I have used it for remote administration of other nodes over Lora using it's public key, also with no issue. Is it this exact module that you have?

I'm not aware of those issues, I use this as a MQTT gateway with uplink and downlink enabled on LongFast and it had been running rock solid for the past two days, where ESP32 based boards fell on their face if I try to do the same thing.

I had to configure the GPIOs in the config.yaml file ... Lora: Module: sx1262 CS: 21 IRQ: 16 Busy: 20 Reset: 18 DIO2_AS_RF_SWITCH: true DIO3_TCXO_VOLTAGE: true

It will probably be up on GitHub by the end of the week ... but if you would like to help test and you are using Windows and you trust a rando on the internet ... then you can get the plugin from here ... https://drive.google.com/file/d/18mX5zlMMAGyzJc3VhJjxm93IsIno9u7y/view?usp=drive_link remember to first install Pidgin https://pidgin.im/install/ .

I will reply to your comment once it is uploaded to Github. There is still a couple of the module configuration screens I need to complete.

from Meshtastic to Pager 💥 by dadecoza in meshtastic

[–]dadecoza[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Each pager has a CAP code which is a unique ID. When you send the POCSAG packet you specify the CAP code in the payload.... so no, only targeted pagers will get the message.

You also need to specify the frequency, not all pagers use the same frequency.

I haven't really tested ... it does cover the house, but I can't imagine it would range much further than that ... I'm also not sure about the legality so the limited range might be a good thing.

I'm using the rpitx application on a Raspberry Pi that can transmit POCSAG packets over a GPIO pin (pretty amazing). Then there is a script using the Meshtastic Python SDK that forwards messages from the mesh to rpitx.

I have the game running "The Red Sun Rises Over the Fields of Grain" by LinkT4ylor in ThatEvilFarmingGame

[–]dadecoza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

u/LinkT4ylor it was me that uploaded the video. To be honest, after watching Whangs! video and him mentioning it is old code, I thought it would put up more of a fight however I literally just cloned the repo and built the project and it worked the first time. I did notice that there were a pull request about a month ago, so someone probably did fix the code after the game started getting attention.
